									NUTRITIONIST, PUBLIC HEALTH - SUPERVISOR CLASS PURPOSE To supervise a major nutrition care, education, and counseling program for clients in a community; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION This position involves lifting and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 40 pounds. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Supervision and administration. Typical responsibilities: plans, organizes, and directs the Woman, Infant and Children (WIC), Senior Nutrition, or Risk Reduction program; develops, implements and evaluates nutrition program policies and procedures to insure consistency with federal, state, and district requirements; assesses community nutrition needs and develops programs to meet those needs; writes nutrition program plans including goals and objectives; develops procedures for program and service delivery; conducts participant surveys and compiles statistics for assessment of nutrition needs and evaluation of objectives; coordinates program services with community organizations to augment existing services; prepares grant requests and annual program budget; monitors expenses; seeks alternative funding sources; determines staff/client caseload; interviews and hires staff, assigns work, and evaluates performance; plans and provides training and continuing education programs for staff and volunteers; directs and participates in district satellite activities. 2.
