MUSEUM ADMINISTRATOR CLASS PURPOSE To manage the museum and related collections; acquire, catalog, preserve, and maintain historic artifacts and displays; perform related work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Management. Typical responsibilities: develops goals and priorities consistent with State statutes and historical society guidelines; determines financial requirements and prepares budget requests; monitors and authorizes expenditures; hires, trains, and evaluates employees; resolves personnel problems; develops policies and procedures for the museum and related collections; seeks program and endowment funds from foundations, government agencies, businesses, and individuals; writes and administers project grants; prepares matching fund applications; solicits labor, material, and money donations from corporations and organizations; consults with and supervises staff in presenting community museum related service. 2.
