MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES PROGRAM MANAGER CLASS PURPOSE To manage the mental health services program within a designated region of the state; perform related work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Program management. Typical responsibilities: establishes and implements program objectives, policies, and procedures; participates as member of regional director's management team; hires, trains, and evaluates performance of program supervisors and staff; establishes and directs treatment and service philosophies, modalities, and methods; provides technical assistance to staff in complying with federal and state plans, policies, regulations, and other requirements; conducts needs assessments to identify program needs; participates in statewide program and policy development; serves on site review teams for programs in other regions; plans, develops, and implements regional service delivery components; develops, recommends, and controls program budget; evaluates quality and quantity of service delivery; coordinates program activities with public and private providers; provides liaison with community officials and groups, other agencies, and advisory boards; writes grant proposals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Good knowledge of: treatment and therapeutic approaches for individuals with serious mental disorders; management practices. Some knowledge of: adult protective services. Experience: developing community mental health programs; developing operational policies and procedures.
