									LANDS RESOURCE PROGRAM MANAGER CLASS PURPOSE To plan and coordinate statewide natural resource programs in forest improvement, forest practices, urban/community forestry, stewardship/service forestry, timber sales, or scaling; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION Incumbents are required to work in all types of weather and are exposed to dust, smoke, and fire. Incumbents are subject to fire assignment and must maintain qualifications for Incident Command System (ICS) rating. This work involves walking over rough and steep terrain for up to eight hours a day. Incumbents will travel within the state for up to 30% of the time. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Incumbents are responsible for a statewide department program including strategic planning, budget development, and program evaluation. Incumbents oversee field staff performing some or all of the program's activities. These positions are considered the technical experts within their professional discipline. NATURE AND SCOPE Incumbents develop program policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; oversee Administrative Procedures Act process; develop and oversee budgets and federal grants to meet staffing, equipment, travel and training; monitor and approve contract requirements; establish priorities and determine allocations; develop and maintain procedures manuals for use by field staff; perform program planning and evaluation; conduct field and office procedure inspectio
