IT Resource Manager

IT RESOURCE MANAGER CLASS PURPOSE To manage the resources of a small agency-wide IT shop; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION This is the managerial level. At this level, incumbents have technical expertise in a wide range of information technology areas and management oversight of the resources of a small agency-wide IT activity. Incumbents have a high degree of independence in the design, implementation, and support of integrated applications. They provide continuing oversight, technical guidance, long-range and capacity planning, consultation, and leadership to agency personnel on a broad range of IT issues. They have responsibility for multi-faceted integrated systems involving cross-functional activities, multiple technologies and platforms, and resolution of conflicting goals of various client users. Incumbents have supervisory responsibilities over a small professional IT staff. Classification to this level is based on the number and level of full-time professional staff, Hay factoring considerations, and diversity of IT activities managed. Contract staff is a consideration only when they are full-time and on-going. EXAMPLES OF WORK (may include but is not limited to): Plans for, designs, and oversees the integration of operating systems including server software modules, security levels, utilities, and third party products; participates in and oversees development of network topologies, physical layout, and communications configurations; reviews system growth rates and capacity requirements and recommends software, hardware, and information p
