									HYDROGEOLOGIST, TECHNICAL CLASS PURPOSE To perform advanced, specialized, and technical hydrogeologic analysis requiring the application of diversified hydrogeologic principles and practices; acts as an agency and interagency consultant on specialized hydrogeologic applications; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION Incumbents in this classification are considered experts in their respective specialty but may perform all aspects of journey-level hydrogeology. Work may involve exposure to hazardous substances and may require baseline and periodic medical monitoring. Positions may involve working in inclement weather, around noisy and dangerous equipment, and around high electrical voltage and high-pressure water systems. Positions may involve: walking over rough and steep terrain for distances up to three miles; lifting and carrying objects such as water testing/measuring equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of hydrogeologic principles and practices within a specialty area. Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates detailed phases of hydrogeologic work. Performs work that involves conventional hydrogeologic practices, but includes a variety of complex features. Plans and coordinates work to develop improved techniques to solve unusual problems requiring creativity in the modification of conventional practices. Work should result in improved techniques and procedures for water resource evaluation, administration and management. Positions may supervise or provide leadwork to professional and/or technical staff.
