GENERAL SERVICES MANAGER CLASS PURPOSE To manage general service support operations for the Blank Department; to perform related work. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES General Services Management. Typical responsibilities: plans, organizes, directs, and controls operations and support services involving central records and postal, printing and microfilming, word processing, telecommunications, and building and grounds maintenance operations; drafts, recommends and establishes policies and procedures; establishes priorities and schedules; hires, assigns, and evaluates staff; conducts staff meetings and provides training; resolves conflicts between staff and supervisors; prepares budget and authorizes expenditures; conducts cost analyses and recommends lease or purchase of equipment, contract terms, building repair and space utilization; develops specifications and contracts for equipment and services pertaining to microfilming, building maintenance, mailing, telecommunication, microfilming, photocopying and printing; confers with vendors, manufacturers and technical representatives regarding purchase and use of equipment and supplies; directs, authorizes, and monitors the department statewide telecommunications system; confers with consultants and architectural firms to prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for remodeling projects; monitors remodeling projects; approves and coordinates space allocations; writes/revises administrative manual; serves as liaison with other departments to coordinate projects and resolve problems; prepares status reports. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Good knowledge of: management practices. Experience: supervising one or more technical support operations; interpreting and applying regulations, policies, and procedures; explaining requirements, procedures, and decisions to others; writing business documents.
