									DIETARY AIDE, SENIOR CLASS PURPOSE To prepare foods; set up, portion, and deliver meals; keep dining areas and kitchen stocked and cleaned; perform related work. GENERAL INFORMATION This position is the second level classification in the dietary aide/cook series. In this position, incumbents begin to work in food preparation and in the application of dietary guidelines. Cleaning and sanitation are a primary responsibility of this position. Incumbents work around steam and cooking heat and involve bending, stooping, and standing up to five hours per shift. This work also involves lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Food preparation. Typical duties: prepares salads, fresh vegetables and fruit, beverages, snacks, juice, salad dressings, and similar items for regular and modified diets; cleans, cuts, chops, dices, slices, and purees foods; opens food containers and drains fruits and vegetables; slices and portions breads, cakes and pies; makes toast; operates food processor, mixer, coffee makers, can opener and other appliances; breaks and mixes eggs; makes sandwiches, prepares sack lunches and assists cooks in preparation of specialized foods. 2.
