Reports to: Classification: Date: Job Summary: Supervises the application of accounting principles to a computerized Trust accounting system. Maintains accurate records of Trust accounts. Monitors expenditures, and prepares monthly financial statements and administrative reports. Communicates with other Trust and City employees, outside agencies, and citizens to discuss the legality of expenditures, explain governmental regulations, and gather information to formulate a fiscal-year budget. Provides technical assistance and training to clerical and professional personnel by explaining and demonstrating the work to be performed. Work is subject to periodic audits and may be reviewed by the Administrative Manager for overall standards of performance. Essential Functions: 1. Supervisory—Supervises clerical and professional personnel involved in accounting functions. Examples of typical tasks are: a. Supervises and trains Finance, Purchasing, and Cash Control Technicians; supervisory and clerical personnel, i.e., Accountants, Account Clerks, Account Technicians, Unit Technicians, Clerk Typists, etc., in the performance of standard and routine accounting, cash control, special assignments, and other related tasks, i.e., the accumulation, posting and preparation of data for reports or documentation. May delegate daily work assignments based on own knowledge of department priorities. Directs and/or assists in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions, explaining procedures to new employees, etc. Reviews work product of Finance Department to ensure accuracy and completeness, using own discretion. Interviews prospective employees, i.e., Account Clerks, Unit Technicians, Finance Technicians, Accountants, Computer Technicians, etc., to determine best applicant for position based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required to perform the job.
