Dear DUSA Scholarship Applicant:

The Scholarship Committee of the West Point chapter of the Society of the Daughters of the United
States Army (DUSA) welcomes your interest in applying for one of our academic scholarships to assist
your collegiate education. To be eligible to receive a DUSA scholarship, you, the applicant, must be a
graduating high school senior and the son or daughter of an active, retired or deceased U.S. military
service member whose family resides at West Point (or within a 35 mile radius of West Point) at the time
the scholarship is awarded. Scholarship funds are intended to pay for tuition, books and fees for degree,
certificate or other professional programs at accredited institutions of higher learning. Scholarships will
not be awarded to those attending one of the service academies.

The required application follows. It is your responsibility to ensure your application’s accuracy and
completion. Incomplete applications will be disqualified and applicants will not be notified that their
application is incomplete. Transcripts and letters of reference must be included in the same envelope
with your application. Failure to follow these instructions will disqualify you. Furthermore, you should
place great importance on neatness and accuracy. You will lose points for any grammatical, spelling or
typographical errors and illegible applications will be disqualified. Applications will be judged on
academics and citizenship. Please note that citizenship shall be based on attitudes, conduct, cooperation
and participation in extracurricular activities in and out of school. To be competitive, you will need to
demonstrate strength in both areas.

Do NOT turn applications in to the DUSA gift shops or your school. Your completed application
packet must be postmarked or hand delivered by 5 pm. on April 1, 2008, to:

                                      DUSA Scholarships
                                      c/o Heidi Robbins
                                      PO Box 78
                                      West Point, NY 10996

To ensure fairness and impartiality, judging is done anonymously. Committee members and applicants
names will not be divulged. The DUSA Grants and Scholarships Committee will notify scholarship
winners. Funds will be disbursed in the fall after Scholarship winners show proof of enrollment by
submitting payment information from his or her school.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (845) 446-2615. Thank you for
your interest. We wish you well with your future academic endeavors.

Sincerely,
