                            Master’s Scholarship for Public Policy and Good
                            Governance (PPGG)
                            Announcement 2012/2013

Objectives                   To do a Master’s degree at one of the selected German Universi-
                             ties with the following focus areas: Public Policy, Good Govern-
                             ance, International Relations, Public Management, Administration,
                             Civil Society

                             For Master courses funded under the PPGG programme please see
                             Annex 1:

Target Group                 Very well qualified graduates with a first university degree (Bache-
                             lor or equivalent) who in the future want to actively contribute to the
                             social and economic development of their home countries. The
                             scholarships are offered both for young graduates without
                             professional experience and for mid-career professionals

Duration                     2 years

Scholarship                      •   Stipend of EURO 750.00 per month
Value                            •   A lump sum towards air fare from India to Germany and
                                 •   Exemption from payment of university tuition fees
                                 •   A study and research subsidy
                                 •   Compulsory health insurance covered by DAAD
                                 •   6 months German Language Course in Germany - free
                                     tuition, boarding, lodging plus pocket allowance during the
                                     period of the German language course (preceding studies)

Requirements                     • A 1st class Bachelor’s Degree
and Conditions                   • There should not be a gap of more than 6 years between the
                                   award of last degree and application deadline (31st July)
                                 • In general, candidates should be residing in India at the time
                                   of application. Candidates, who have been in Germany for
                                   more than one year at the time of application, are not
                                   eligible to apply.
                                 • All Master courses have further additional requirements
                                   that must be fulfilled by the applicants in any case (see
                                   individual course websites)

Application                        •    2 application forms with a passport-size photograph at-
Documents                               tached to each form. Please ensure that you have signed
                                        both forms before sending them to us
                                   •    2 typed copies of full curriculum-vitae (bio-data)
                                   •    2 copies of detailed motivation letter
                                   •    2 references from senior academics from the applicant's
                                        field of study/research on the proforma available on our
                                        website. The referee’s title and academic status should be
                                        clearly indicated in this (with official rubber-stamp). These
                                        should be Confidential (in sealed envelopes) and should be
                                   •    2 copies of recent language certificate giving evidence of the
                                        applicants level of proficiency -TOEFL minimum score: 550
                                        paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based) or
                                        IELTS (band 6) certificate; German Language skills** at A2
                                   •    2 copies of all chronologically arranged academic certifi-
                                        cates and mark-sheets (all copies must be attested; attested
                                        English translation, if the originals are in Hindi; Attestation
                                        can be done by a gazetted Government officer)

                                        ** Knowledge of German is not mandatory but desirable

course of your choice. The DAAD scholarship will only come into effect if you
will be admitted to the selected Master course. For this purpose you might be
