This Month’s Event

       The May 2009 WEC Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 11:30 am to 1:00
pm at Milos Restaurant located at 1600 North Federal Hwy in Boca Raton. Our guest speaker will be
WEC member, Kelly Sullivan who will be speaking on the topic of Tax Law Changes. Please RSVP to

Kudos Korner

        A HUGE Kudos goes to Margie Olson who was our gracious hostess at Howard Johnson’s Patio
on the Beach for our Annual Spring Fling. She coordinated the buffet, beverages, service, location, parking
to make the event a success. Kudos to the WEC Board of Director members: Jennifer Ruby and Julie
Clairmont-Shide who sat at the greeting table all evening making sure everyone was signed in; Barbara
Perino for taking photos of everyone; Anita Todras, Trudy Nadreau and Tricia Williams who made
sure everything was running smoothly; Cathy Gray for creating beautiful flyers for the event and the
announcement of our new lunch location; Dana Lee Csutoros for overseeing the event and being our
leader. Also big kudos to Gaye Goldberg, Cathy Gray, Peggy Price, Dr. Angela Ramirez, Pat Reed,
Anita Perry, Margie Olson for their generous door prizes. Trudy Nadreau wanted to thank Marilyn
Wilson and Peggy Price for helping with meeting and greeting. Jennifer Ruby sends kudos to Trudy
Nadreau for organizing the Spring Fling; all the vendors who donated door prizes; Dana Lee Csutoros for
finding out new lunch location; Barbara Perino for interviewing the scholarship candidates. Meryl

        Anita Perry with Jewels by Park Lane is hosting an event at her home in Boca Raton, FL

        The Mae Volen Center is hosting their 1st Annual Alternatives Group Community
Expo on Sunday, May 17th at the Center from 10 am to 2pm. This event is specifically targeted
to the gay and lesbian community. Contact Hannah Klingsberg for information on booth exhibits

       Soroptimist Donation Ceremony to Non-Profits will be held on Wednesday, May 20th
from 5:30 pm to 7:00pm at the Atrium Office Bldg. at 1515 N. Federal Hwy. Please contact Judy

        Palm Beach Community College, located on the FAU campus in Boca Raton, is gearing
up for Summer Youth College 2009! Children ages 8 – 14 may chose from over 100 “edu-
training” classes in areas such as art, culture, language, dance, fitness, crafts, music, computers,
social sciences and more. Future Leadership Boca focuses on leadership activities for 14 year
olds. Students ages 15 and up may apply for internships. Summer Youth College starts June
22nd and ends with the Festival Finale on July 30th. For more information, please contact Elke

The 2009 Ms. Florida Senior America Pageant was held in South Florida on April 25, and
long time Boca Raton resident Gwen Herb (pictured) was runner up among 12
contestants. Gwen, President of Gwen Herb Smart Health, Inc., is a book author and
speaker on health and fitness with her program "Looking Good and Feeling Great at Any
Age!" The Pageant is part of the Ms. Senior America Pageants, which are in their 34th
year, and which judge contestants 60 and over on talent, evening gown, judges' interview,
and philosophy of life. The Ms. Senior America Pageant is the world's first pageant to
emphasize and give honor to women who have reached the "age of
elegance," exemplifying the dignity, maturity and inner beauty of all senior Americans.
