    Short Description:    The role will involve producing components to a high standard using various hand techniques and machining methods.
                          We are inviting individuals with the appropriate qualifications and personal qualities to apply for our exciting apprenticeship
                          opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing personality and the confidence to deal with various individuals
                          and groups. You will be supported to undertake recognised qualifications whilst gaining invaluable on-the-job experience .

      Full description:
                                   The apprentice will work within a team to manufacture tooling and/or components.
                                   Will report to a supervisor and work with a mentor to develop skills.
                                   Day to day activities could involve CNC/ manual turning, CNC/ manual milling, surface and cylindrical grinding, spark
                                    and wire erosion, drilling, the use of hand tools and measuring equipment.
                          The post holder gain experience though a range of production departments and ToolRoom reporting directly to our ToolRoom
                          manager in the first instance.

                                   Provide support to the team to a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
                                   Undertake general engineering activities other than machining.
                                   To maintain accuracy and be responsible for checking your own work.
                                   To work efficiently and adhere to company documentation.
                                   To present and promote an appropriate public image in representing the company.
                                   To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the post.

                          Other Responsibilities:
                                  To uphold and promote policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work,
                                   including the Equality & Diversity policies and procedures.
                                  To attend college and complete course work on time and to a high standard.
                                  To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner and comply with health & safety policies and procedures.
                                  To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of the job, with new legislation, procedures and
                                  To be conversant with and participate in activities and developments relevant to the post.

       Main Duties &      Machining activities, including setting, running and monitoring machines.
      Responsibilities:   Producing components and/or tooling using hand fitting techniques.
                          General engineering activities.
                          Monitor the quality of your work.
                          Complete any company documentation as required.

  Terms & Conditions:              The post is offered on a full time 39 hours per week contract
                                   The wage will be within the range of £165 - £197 per week initially dependant on age.
                                   You will be entitled to 25 days leave, plus bank holidays (all leave is pro rata for par time employees)
                                   You will be required to work 39 hours per week Mon - Fri
                                   The post holder may be located at xx but may be expected to travel as required. You will however be given
                                    reasonable notice of any change in your principle place of work and be fully consulted.

    Future prospects:     Starting straight from an Advanced Apprenticeship on completion may be opportunity to do HNC.

  Expected Duration:      Depending on the individual and the type of apprenticeship the course normally lasts from 3 to 5 years.

   Training Provided:     Apprenticeship Framework:
                          This apprenticeship allows you to study towards a recognised qualification whilst in an employed position, as part of your
                          apprenticeship the programme will consists of:
                                   Job-specific s training through working alongside experienced staff
                                   A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ Level 2 and/or 3) focusing on:
                                         o    The standards required for your specific occupation
                                         o    The competencies required to carry out the job
                                         o    A breakdown of the contents of the jobs within your specific occupation into tasks called units of
                                         o    The performance criteria required to do jobs and tasks completed through witness testimony, tests and
                                   A Technical Certificate focusing on:
                                         o    The theoretical knowledge required in an occupation
                                         o    Underpinning knowledge of the NVQ
                                   Key Skills (Literacy, Numeracy and IT)
                                         o    You will be assessed in a number of Key Skills which are an integral part of completing your
                                              apprenticeship. Upon successfully completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition.

                          and open minded approach is needed to be able to adapt and work effectively in a variety of situations. You will need to be,
                          reliable, adaptable and able to work to instructions given and on your own initiative.

        Qualifications:   A level 2 qualification in engineering. GCSE grades A to C are desirable, specifically Maths, a science and/or a craft subject.
                          Previous experience would be taken into account if you fail to achieve the desired grades.

       Reality Check:              Working in a moderately noisy environment.
