Deepam – Educate Program
Deepam class spans over 40 weeks / year, with planned
curriculum
Volunteer - Student Ratio 1: 5
Class every weekend, for 2 hours
Students given a certificate at the end of the course

1. Friends of Deepam – Program to get the community / corporate to support
Deepam’s initiatives. Partnering with corporates / other NGO’s / individuals for
monetary or any other support to ensure sustainability of Deepam Programs
2. Deepam Lead – Platform for volunteers to lead and contribute to Deepam
programs. Through this program, Volunteers can take initiatives to teach /
organise / ideate / Contribute in any way to Deepam Objectives

Deepam Projects
1. Deepam Educate – The program Deepam organises at each
centre to teach the kids. Volunteers spend 2 hours with the kids
every weekend, following a planned curriculum, for 30 weeks
2. Deepam Stars – Program to help deserving children through
continued support. Deserving kids are shortlisted and mentorship /
tution fee / Other support is provided to the them, throughout their
education
3. Deepam-Nalanda Library – Library at each centre, to
encourage book reading habit in a child
4. Take Home a PC - Deserving kids from each graduating class to
be given a desktop PC, to take home

Deepam Story So far…
Deepam is a registered NGO – A society registered
Deepam under Societies Registration Act, 1860
Founded in January 2008, with the 1st class in April 2008
Over 240 + less-privileged children taught every week, currently
Students
60 students have graduated from the program in 2008/2009
310+ volunteers registered with Deepam
55 Active volunteers ( informally mentored / trained )

11 Laptops , 10 OLPCs & 10 Desktops
Deepam-Nalanda Library Launched at 2 Centres in 2009
