Lemon Garlic Broccoli Pasta

									    Lemon Garlic Broccoli Pasta
2 heads fresh or 1 (14oz) bag frozen broccoli                           2 quarts water
1 pound whole wheat penne noodles                                       2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh or bottled)                             ½ teaspoon salt
2 cloves minced fresh garlic                                            1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  or 1 teaspoon garlic powder                                                            Prep Time: 10 Minutes
                                                                                         Cook Time: 10 Minutes
• If you’re using fresh broccoli, wash and cut it into florets.
• Boil the water in a covered medium sized pot. (Why covered? The water boils quicker
  and you save electricity). When the water boils, add the whole wheat penne.
• As soon as the water returns to a boil, set the timer for 5 minutes.
• When the timer goes off, add the broccoli to the pasta and continue cooking.
• Set the timer for 5 minutes. When the timer goes off, drain the broccoli and pasta.
  Set aside.
• In a medium sized bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and red pepper
  flakes (if you like food a little spicy). Stir to mix well.
• Pour the lemon juice mixture over the hot broccoli and pasta. Stir to combine.
• If you’re using fresh garlic, wait 2 or 3 minutes before serving. If you’re using
  garlic powder, it’s ready to eat!
• Enjoy! (Leftovers: cover and put in refrigerator for up to 3 days.)
