Personal and Educational Goals
Regardless of the educational levels or specific nature of professional goals, nursing students need to pursue methods for achieving these goals during their learning process. One of the biggest problems that students face is the inability to create a plan and apply it to meeting individual goals. My strategies involve integrating a point-by-point plan that identifies significant milestones, creates methods for communication and integrates my existing knowledge of nursing theory and nursing systems to my own development as a healthcare professional. My major professional short-term goal is relatively simple, to compete the course of study that I'm taking to the best of my ability. This goal is based on my educational perspective and my desire to continue to expand my academic performance in preparation for a full-time bachelors' degree program. This corresponds with my professional goal of educational improvement with the end goal of receiving my bachelor's degree in nursing. In order to achieve this short-term goal, I believe that I must achieve the following milestones: 1. academic performance, attendance and timely completion of work; 2. active participation in classwork; 3. participation in a study group; 4. completion of tests with a high grade. These same principles can be applied in a greater degree to each segment of my course focus for the 4 years of my degree program, with the end result being the obtaining of my bachelor's degree in nursing.
