					                                                E-Teacher Training Mentor Checklist
Phase I (OVERSEE THE TRAINEE DOES NOT SPEND MORE THAN 1 HOUR COMPLETING THIS; IF NOT, LET YOUR CHAIR KNOW ASAP):
 Send training welcome email:
         Welcome (Insert Name)!
         I will be your mentor.
          To begin:
                     Go to: http://faculty.irsc.edu/DEPT/AdultEducation/adult_ed/E-
                        Learning/employees/virtual%20classroom/virtual_classroom.html
                             Select E-Teacher Training (middle of page) and begin!
                             Compete Phase I. Invest approximately an hour of time to accomplish this.
                                    o Please note, for the Mission Possible training the User ID is teacher and the password is ircc.
         Please contact me ASAP with any questions or concerns at (insert your #) and let me know when you have completed
         Phase I of training.

Phase II (ASSURE TRAINEE DOES NOT SPEND MORE THAN 2-3 HOURS COMPLETING THIS; IF NOT, LET YOUR CHAIR KNOW ASAP):
     Ask Paul Sanchez to work with the trainee’s chair and/or course constructor to provide you with the respective class
          (already created within a Learning Management System (LMS)/“Building”) for the trainee.
               o If the trainee’s class uses Skillstutor, please contact Judy Bracken to supply you with the student and teacher user
                    ID and password.
     Email Phase II of the training email:
               Welcome to Phase II, (Insert Name)
               You now have a(n) (INSERT CLASS NAME) classroom assigned to you in the (INSERT LMS NAME (ie: Educator, WebCT6,
               Angel)) building.

               The first step a student goes through is facilitation, just like if they were going in the face-to-face (F2F) classrooms. For
               online classes, we call this the mini-orientation. They are given the “blue folder” or information packets.
                    You are now going to go through this process, enter a class, and complete some lessons similar to how a student
                    would, to feel what it’s like to be a student.
               Please read the orientation packet which the student reads and agrees to during this orientation:

                          Select Adult Ed (scroll down on left sidebar)
                                   Select E-Learning Classes (left sidebar)
                                             Select Student
                                                       Go through both of these links:
                                                               Student Agreements (Including New Students Read This! PRINT)
                                                               Student Aides

               Then from the E-Learning Classes website go back to the Virtual Classroom page.
                          Select the appropriate building to log into on the bottom left.
                                             User name: (INSERT USER NAME provided to you by Paul Sanchez)
                                             Password: (INSERT Password provided to you by Paul Sanchez)
                                             (Note, this is different then what the student is given.)
                          If your class uses Skillstutor curriculum:
                                             User name (as student): (INSERT USER NAME provided to you by Judy Bracken)
                                             Password (as student): (INSERT Password provided to you by Judy Bracken)
                                             Site (as student): (INSERT Site provided to you by Judy Bracken)
                          Complete a few lessons and let me know when you have completed Phase II! This should take NO Longer
                             than 2-3 hours.
               Call with any questions anytime!:)

          Provide the student (“blue”) orientation folder and/or information packet to the trainee when you meet them in person.
     Remember, training does not guarantee that the trainee will be teaching a class. This will be based upon your
          recommendation to Chair and Chair’s approval.

Phase III (OVERSEE TRAINEE DOES NOT SPEND MORE THAN 6-7 HOURS COMPLETING THIS; IF NOT, LET YOUR CHAIR KNOW ASAP):

      Provide trainee with User ID and Password for their teacher account so they may review the lessons they just as a student.
      MEET WITH TRAINEE F2F OR BY PHONE AND REVIEW EACH STEP OF PHASE III OF THE E-TEACHER TRAINING CHECKLIST;
           o Show them samples and examples via E-Team Wiki and communication tools as appropriate.
      Have the trainee sign the checklist and send it back to you with a copy to Paul.
