Thank you for all your positive responses about our new format. We have resolved the issue
which prevented some people from viewing our new format. Thanks to all who helped us

FOR ALL PITTSFORD FAMILIES

2/28/09 -- WINTER WONDERLAND CABARET IS HERE! Saturday,
February 28 at 7pm in the Mendon High School Commons. Mendon High
School Music Department presents a Winter Wonderland Cabaret featuring
performances by its premier performance groups including Show Choir, Jazz
Band, Jazz Singers, Jazz Ensemble, Men's A Cappella and Cabaret
Orchestra. Coffee and desserts, exciting silent auction, dessert contest and
so much more! Sponsored by F.A.M.E. (Families Advocating Music
Education), all proceeds benefit Mendon music students. Tickets are
available at the Mendon High School music office and at the door. Don't miss

2/28/09--PITTSFORD ALLIANCE FOR SUBSTANCE-FREE YOUTH is
announcing the Fourth Annual Charity Stripe Classic Free Throw Contest it
will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 in the Pittsford Sutherland High

2/28/09--PITTSFORD MUSTANGS SOCCER CLUB will be conducting a
registration for the USL (non-travel developmental soccer program) on
Wednesday, February 25th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday,
February 28th from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at Pittsford Mendon High School.
Reminder for all soccer players aged K through 6th grade. The registration
fee is $75 for 1 child, $150 for 2 siblings, and $180 for 3 or more siblings.
The USL spring season will run from Saturday, May 2nd to Saturday, June
20th. A registration form and further up-to-date details, including days and
times for each boys and girls age group, can be found on our website at

3/1/09--PITTSFORD YOUTH On Sunday, March 1, 2009 between the
hours of 6:30 and 8:30 pm, student volunteers from Mendon and Sutherland
High Schools will call area residents to ask for their financial support on
behalf of PYS. If you are a high school student who is interested in
participating in this fundraising event to earn community service credit,

3/2/09 -- NEWS RELEASE--2009 PTSA LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARDS
HONOREES are Chris Brush, Kathleen Eckler, Susan Gould, Cindy
Merrifield, Michelle Peartree, Jody Pecor, Jeanne Strazzabosco, Scott
Reinhart, Kathleen Conklin and Michaela Ryan (PTSA Presidential
Recognition). Join us to recognize these individuals at Park Road
auditorium on March 2, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. (NOTE CHANGE FROM THAT
WHICH APPEARS ON THE DISTRICT CALENDAR). Each year since 1949, the
Pittsford PTSA has awarded outstanding individuals in our community with
Honorary Life Membership in the New York State PTA. The Pittsford PTSA
makes a contribution in each recipient's name to the New York State PTA,
which uses the funds to provide scholarships to teachers and students.
Those honored with this award have demonstrated extraordinary dedication
to the youth of our community over a period of many years.

03/03/07--PITTSFORD PASS: Meeting with LDA Life and Learning
Services Please come to the next PASS meeting scheduled for Tuesday,
March 3rd from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 am. at the Pittsford Speigel Community
Center located at 35 Lincoln Avenue in Pittsford. We will meet in room
102. Colin Garwood, Executive Director of the LDA Life and Learning
Services and two of his colleagues will attend to discuss educational and
residential housing programs and services offered by this agency. LDA is
unique in that it services clients with a wide variety of issues, from mild
neurologolical impairments or learning disabilities to those who require
varying degrees of community support - up to and including residential
housing. Living options can vary from shared living with a host family to
supportive apartments to 24 hour supervised housing. For more information

3/10/09-- RISKS OF TEEN CHAT ROOMS, TEXTING, AND SOCIAL
NETWORKING ON THE INTERNET If you missed the excellent recent
presentation at Sutherland High School , there will be another presentation
on Tuesday evening, March 10, at Barker Road Middle School Auditorium at
7-8:30 P.M. Pam Weaver, the Rochester Director of Education for the
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, will give a NetSmartz
presentation to all interested parents who want to learn about the risks of
using chat rooms, web browsers, email, texting, and social networking on

open to parents from ALL schools, and is hosted by YOUR PTSA.

3/14/09 - NOMINATE A CHORAL EDUCATOR Does your child have an
outstanding chorus director or singing teacher in the Pittsford schools? Take
the opportunity to show your favorite choral educator how much you
appreciate his or her work, by submitting a nomination for the Outstanding
Choral Educator Award. This award will be presented by the Bach Children's
Chorus at their annual Gala on April 4, in appreciation for the wonderful --
and difficult -- work done by so many fine choral educators here in the
greater Rochester area. The nomination is easy -- just a short email
describing why your child's chorus director deserves to be honored with this
award. Nominations are being accepted until March 14; just go to

BARKER ROAD MIDDLE SCHOOL HEADLINES
2/27/09--CARNIVAL NIGHT!!! Is this Friday, February 27! Admission is
$5; events will include two cash vaults, carnival games, dancing, food, and
many prizes. Tickets for a chance to throw a pie are 5/$1 and on sale at
cafeteria at lunch this Wed/Thur/Fri. This is a Barker Road student event
ONLY, to be held 6:00-7:30 p.m. for 6th Graders, and 8:00-9:30 p.m. for

CALKINS ROAD MIDDLE SCHOOL HEADLINES
YOGA CONTINUES AT CALKINS ROAD! Session 2 to be offered after
school on six THURSDAYS: March 12 to April 16: 2:30-3:25 p.m. (Students
may ride the late bus home).No experience or ability required; just come to
learn and enjoy! Cost: $54.00 Registration form and permission form (both
required) may be downloaded from the Calkins Road PTSA website or picked

FOR HIGH SCHOOL FAMILIES
HISTORIC PITTSFORD ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS Historic Pittsford
annually recognizes individuals and/or organizations in the community who
have significantly contributed to supporting the mission and goals of the
organization. Community members are encouraged to nominate those whose
outstanding contributions to the preservation of the history and character of
the Village or Town of Pittsford are worthy of recognition. Eligible candidates
include individual, groups, or organizations, businesses, students, scouts,
government bodies, etc. The deadline to submit nominations is April
1,2009. Details and nomination forms can be found in the high school
guidance office.

MENDON HIGH SCHOOL HEADLINES
3/12/09--COLLEGE INFORMATION NIGHT The Mendon HS and
Sutherland HS Counseling Departments will be hosting the annual College
Information Night on Thursday, March 12 at 7pm at Mendon HS.
 Parents and students of both high schools are encouraged to attend. Topics
covered include: 'An Overview of College Admissions Testing' and 'Strategies
for Success in Selective Admission' as well as many others. The night will
consist of 3 sessions; a list of workshops and their descriptions can be found

03/14/08--COLLEGE FAIR FOR JUNIORS The annual National College
Fair field trip is happening on March 14th and the counseling office is
reserving 80 seats for the first 80 juniors who register. Registration
materials are available in the MHS Counseling Office through March 2.
