					CONTRACT OF
EMPLOYMENT
• A contract of employment should be
  received within 13 weeks of starting
  work
        FOUR SECTIONS
• Details of the company and the
  employee
• Details of the job including normal
  working hours, holiday entitlement, etc
• Details of involuntary absence such as
  sickness, industrial injury, etc
• Details of disciplinary or grievance
  procedures
      PERIOD OF NOTICE
• The length of time either the employee
  or the employer has to give in order to
  terminate the employment contract
• The period of notice may be waived if
  the employee is found to be acting
  inappropriately or dishonestly.
• Alternatively, some employers may not
  wish key or senior personnel to continue
  working their period of notice if they
  have taken a new job with a competitor
• The contract of employment is signed
  by both employer and employee
• This is to signify that they are both
  aware of and agree to the conditions set
  out in the contract
• The Employment Protection Act 1978
