DIVISION 15 - MECHANICAL SECTION 15440 - PLUMBING FIXTURES AND TRIM PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 SECTION INCLUDES A. CONTRACTOR shall provide all labor, materials, equipment and incidentals as shown, specified, and required to furnish and install plumbing fixtures and trim complete with accessories. 1.02 RELATED SECTIONS A. Source Quality Control: Equipment shall be completely manufactured and pre- assembled in accordance with Reference Standards. 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. Shop drawings, specifications, brochures, calculations, and samples shall be submitted for all items to be furnished in accordance with the provisions of Section 01340 SUBMITTALS and shall include but not limited to the following: 1. Manufacturer's literature, illustrations, specifications, weight, dimensions, required clearances, materials of construction, and performance data for all equipment. 2. Drawings showing fabrication methods, assembly, accessories, installation details and wiring diagrams. 3. Setting drawings, templates, and directions for the installation of anchor bolts and other anchorages. 4. Deviations from Contract Documents. 9/11/11 15440-2 Phase 7B B. Shop Drawing Data: All materials to be submitted simultaneously as specified elsewhere: 1. Detailed installation drawing of each individual component showing: a. Mounting requirements. b. Piping and roughing connections, labeled and coded. c. Instructions. d. Materials of construction. e. Data sheets. 2. Detailed description of each component. 3. Catalog cuts. 4. Complete equipment list. 5. Spare parts list and recommended quantities. C. Operation and Maintenance Manual Information: Submit complete manuals including: 1. Submit appropriate level of O&M Manual Information in accordance with Section 01785 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL INFORMATION. 1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer’s Qualifications: 1. Manufacturer’s qualifications shall conform to Section 01400 QUALITY CONTROL. B. Factory Testing: 1. Factory test equipment to insure that the entire package has been properly fabricated and assembled, that all the controls function as specified herein and that the package meets the specified performance requirements including manufacturer’s data report. 9/11/11 15440-3 Phase 7B C. Manufacturer’s Responsibilities: 1. CONTRACTOR shall insure that complete equipment systems be the direct product of one manufacturer and supplier who shall assume all responsibility for: a. Manufacturing. b. Warranty. 1.06 PRODUCT DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Delivery of Materials: 1. Deliver materials to the site to ensure uninterrupted progress of the Work. Deliver anchor bolts and anchorage devices, which are to be embedded in cast-in-place concrete, in ample time to prevent delay of the Work. 2. All boxes, crates and packages shall be inspected by CONTRACTOR upon delivery to the site. CONTRACTOR shall notify OWNER if any loss or damage exists to equipment or components. Replace lost equipment or components and repair damage to new condition, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. B. Storage of Materials: 1. Store materials to permit easy access for inspection and identification. Keep all material off the ground, using pallets, platforms, or other supports. Protect steel members and packaged materials from corrosion and deterioration. 2. Store all equipment in covered storage off the ground and prevent condensation and in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations for long-term storage. 1.07 WARRANTY A. Guarantee and warranty shall be furnished in accordance with the General Conditions. 9/11/11 15440-4 Phase 7B PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 MATERIALS A. Electric Water Cooler: 1. Carrier: 1) Manufacturer: Provide products of one of the following: a) Jay R. Smith, Fig. No. 0871. b) Zurn Industries, Fig. No. Z-1229. c) Josam Series No. 17725. 2) Description: Floor mounted heavy-duty carrier with hanger plate, adjustable supporting and bearing studs, structural uprights and block bases secured to concrete slab with stainless steel expansion type inserts for service sinks. 4. Reference: ANSI Standard A112.19.1M. 9/11/11 15440-6 Phase 7B PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. General: 1. Install all items as shown, specified, and as recommended by the manufacturer. 2. Request instructions from OWNER when there is a conflict between the manufacturer's recommendations and the Contract Documents. 3. Present conflicts to OWNER attention for directions. 4. Do not modify structures to facilitate installation of fixtures unless specifically approved by OWNER. 5. Installation to conform to requirements of all local and state codes. 6. Hangers and carriers shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and in accordance with good practice and workmanship. 7. All fixtures shall be provided with shut off valves or stops for the required water supplies. 8. All exposed valves and escutcheons provided shall be chrome plated. 9. Provide insulation for all plumbing piping under handicapped lavatories. 3.02 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Field Tests: 1. Fill all systems and fully test all equipment, valves, .and appurtenances in operation. 2. All wall hung fixtures after mounted and supported shall be load tested in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation. 3. Installed systems and components will not be released to OWNER unless all systems have been tested and approved by the OWNER. 9/11/11 15440-7 Phase 7B B. Inspection: 1. Examine areas to receive plumbing fixtures and accessories for: a. Defects that adversely affect execution and quality of Work. b. Deviations beyond allowable tolerances for equipment and accessories. c. Start work only when conditions are satisfactory. 2. The OWNER reserves the right to reject and/or authorize replacement of equipment and accessories found to be defective. 3.03 ADJUSTING & CLEANING A. Adjusting: 1. Adjust all controls for proper settings. 2. While system is operable, balance all equipment, valves, and appurtenances to achieve design conditions. B. Cleaning: 1. Thoroughly clean all equipment and accessories prior to installation. 2. Upon completion of the Work, all labels shall be removed; fixtures and trim shall be cleaned of all dirt, grease and markings. 3. Remove all dirt, rust, and dust from equipment in preparation for required painting. 4. Remove and dispose of all debris and waste from the site resulting from installation. 3.04 DISINFECTION A. Prior to placing the potable water supply in service, all equipment, piping and accessories shall be disinfected in accordance with AWWA Standard C601 and any additional requirements prescribed by the public health authorities having jurisdiction. 9/11/11 15440-8 Phase 7B 3.05 PAINTING A. All equipment and accessories shall be painted as required in accordance with Section 09900 PAINTING. 3.06 MANUFACTURER’S TRAINING A. Manufacturer’s training shall be provided for training of OWNER’S personnel for the equipment in accordance with Section 01735 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE TRAINING.
