December 14, 2000 JumpJot Connects With $500,000 By boston.internet.com Staff JumpJot Inc., a Maynard, Mass., company developing technology that lets consumers scan a barcode to reach a Web site, has received a $500,000 investment to help bring its products to market. The funding comes from Hypervest, a digital media venture capital firm. JumpJot is also receiving advanced technology support from DoDadz Inc., a digital media lab and Hypervest subsidiary. JumpJot has developed two pieces of technology, a two-dimensional barcode (the company calls them "Jots") and a semiconductor chip for devices to read them. The solution will be used by marketers to get consumers, armed with a scanning device, to jump to Web sites by scanning the barcodes in catalogs, newspaper and magazine ads and on products.
