PROCESS FOR CERTIFICATION ( TSWD )
Application for Certification - [To qualify for Certification for Teacher of Students With Disabilities,
you must have completed the following courses: ED 665, ED 671,
ED 620, PSY 619, ED 659, ED 675, ED 677]
Use the yellow Application for NJ Certification. Please follow these steps:
Items 1 through 15 are self explanatory
- Make sure your name and Social Security number are written clearly
Item 16 –
In the Box, write: TSWD - _______ (indicate whether you are applying for
Standard or CEAS or CE)
Item 17-
- (First line) fill in month and year that you finished preparation program
Item 18 Signature – denoting that you have answered the questions honestly
Item 19- Your signature denoting your oath of Allegiance MUST BE NOTORIZED.
Fees for Certification
If you have a Standard teaching certificate AND do not have any TSWD certificate,
the fee is $ 95
If you have a Standard teaching certificate AND have a Certificate of Eligibility (CE) TSWD or
a CEAS TSWD,
the fee is $ 0
If you have a CE or CEAS in a K-5, P-3, or K-12 subject specific AND do not have any TSWD
Certificate,
You can only apply for a CE or CEAS (whatever matches your existing certificate),
The fee is $ 170.
If you have a CEAS in K-5, P-3, or K-12 subject specific AND have a TSWD CE
(upgrading your CE to a CEAS)
the fee is $ 75
Submit a check or money order payable to:
“College of Saint Elizabeth”
The completed application and check (if applicable) need to be returned to the Certification Officer, Santa
Maria Hall or Graduate Education Office at least a month prior to completion of the course(s) that make
you eligible for the certification for which you are applying. Your application will be submitted as part of a
group of applications, so any late or incomplete applications will be held for the next submission of
applications.
