Cairo – April, 2010 – At Marriott, our philosophy is that the core of any success is the people, our main
asset. For us it’s always a top priority to seek talents and help them develop their careers’ future with the
company. That’s why Sameh El Garf, the General Manager of Hurghada Marriott Red Sea Resort,
recently promoted Mohamed Khalaf to the position of Human Resources Director, meanwhile appointed
Chef Essam Sayed as the Executive Chef. Mohamed has first joined Hurghada Marriott in 2001 as Human
Resources Specialist and since then he was promoted several times due to his dedication and hard work
till reaching his current position as HR Director. He has helped the resort win some prestigious awards
within Marriott, among which are “Problem Resolution Excellence - 2008” internationally and “Associates
Excellence - 2008” on the regional level of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Middle East & Africa (UKIMEA).
Some of Mohamed’s personal achievements include receiving the “Spirit to Serve Our Communities –
Middle East & Africa HR Award” in 2008 & the 1position on UKIMEA level for achieving the best associates’
opinion survey results in 2009.
Essam Sayed While Chef Essam brings in more than nineteen years’ worth of experience in the culinary field to the
resort. Besides his unmatched kitchen skills, Chef Essam possesses other organizational and personal skills
that would without doubt help him excel in his new role at the resort; as he is a motivating leader and an
excellent team builder. Previously he had won a lot of specialized competitions including receiving a
gold medal for new Arabian cuisine and three silver medals for the 5-course gourmet dinner menu, the 4-
course vegetarian menu as well as for finger food and tapas menu, all during Dubai International Gulf
Food Salon in 2008.
