COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is intended to provide technical, programming and
administrative background and experience for a career with the World-Wide Web. Topics include web
server administration, page design, web protocols, programming for the web, and Web site management
tools. Students should have a working familiarity with the Internet and the World-Wide Web.

Unit 1 Web Server Administration
General Outcome:
1.0 The student shall: be able to discuss how to maintain and organize a web server.
Specific Measurable Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this unit, the student shall be able to:
1.1 Distinguish Internet Service Providers (ISP) from Internet Presence Providers (IPP).
1.2 Describe how web servers work.
1.3 Describe the various parts of a web server.
1.4 Demonstrate how to install and maintain a web server.
