Sentence Combining
Books written for very young readers present information in short, direct
sentences. While this makes the book easy to read, it does not make it enjoyable or
interesting to mature readers. Writing that is to be read by mature readers should
include sentences of varying lengths and complexity to create a flow of ideas. One
way to achieve sentence variety is to combine sentences – to express two or more
RELATED ideas or pieces of inform
