Job Title:                        Night Concierge

Division:                         Services

Reporting to:              Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager
___________________________________________________________________________________

The main purpose of the job is:

      to provide cover to the hostel at night, ensuring the safety of the residents and the building

The worker will also liaise with other staff who provide support and advice to residents and is
expected to regularly participate in team meetings.


Main Tasks

1.      To ensure the health, safety and security of the building by:

1.1     Having an awareness of hygiene, health and safety issues and fire alarm procedures.

1.2     Ensuring that the hostel is kept clean and safe and taking appropriate action to maintain the
        condition of the building.

1.3     Carrying out regular Health & Safety checks in the hostel, checking conditions of all communal
        areas.

1.4     Recording outcome of Health & Safety checks and reporting repairs/maintenance issues via
        the appropriate channel.

1.5.    Ensuring the hostel is secure by regular patrols and monitoring CCTV, external doors and
        access in and out of the building

1.6.    Carrying out resident room/flat checks as necessary.

1.7.    Monitoring and reporting on the external environment, including local resident phone calls,
        and taking appropriate action

1.8.    Providing access to hostel residents and/or permitted visitors. Ensuring that unauthorised
        people do not gain access to the property.


2.      To deal with incidents as appropriate by:

2.1     Being the first point of contact for any emergencies in the project.

2.2     Calling appropriate support as required, e.g. emergency services, out of hours duty manager

2.3     Completing incident report forms in line with Broadway’s incident reporting procedure.

2.3     Ensuring full handover of incidents is provided to support staff.

2.4     To be the first point of contact for clients in Hammersmith & Fulham cluster services: dealing
        directly with housing management issues or referring to the night project worker or out of
        hours duty manager as appropriate.

3.      To undertake administrative tasks as directed:

3.1     To update paper and computerised systems, including petty cash and rent accounts.

3.4     To ensure all occurrences throughout the night are recorded on the site’s communication
        systems

3.5     Any other general administrative tasks to be completed ad hoc as requested by the
        management team e.g. stock control etc.

3.6     Dealing with telephone and general enquiries, ensuring that messages passed on to relevant
        team member.

3.7     To maintain up to date Health & Safety information displayed in the hostel and respond to
        Health & Safety issues raised by clients.

4.      Other Duties While On Shift:

4.1     To maintain a friendly and secure environment within the hostel.

4.2     To diffuse difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary.

4.3     To ensure that project rules and procedures are adhered to.

4.4     To clean and prepare rooms for new resident arrivals as necessary.

4.5     Collection and deliveries of goods and storing of light goods as required.

4.6     To carry out any cleaning that needs immediate attention, i.e. following an incident, and deal
        with any graffiti.


5.      General Duties:

5.1     To adhere to Broadway’s policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and Equal
        Opportunities Policy, in all aspects of work.

5.2     To arrange leave and time off in lieu with Project Manager or Deputy Manager.

5.3     To attend team and other meetings as agreed with Project Manager.

5.4     To attend and contribute to regular supervision with the Project Manager.

5.5     To attend and contribute to an annual appraisal.

5.6     To carry out other duties as may be reasonably requested.


6.      For concierge at Market Lane:

6.1     Provide support to lone working concierges in other, local projects if called upon.
