FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Take part in Novi’s annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony
Monday, May 30 beginning at 10 am

Novi, Michigan, May 13, 2011 – Bring a blanket, gather the family, and find your favorite
spot along Ten Mile Road for the annual Memorial Day Parade which begins at 10 am on
Monday, May 30 and travels west along Ten Mile Road from Karim Boulevard (just west of
Haggerty) to the Novi Civic Center. This event provides the perfect opportunity to
showcase Novi’s great community spirit.

Immediately following the parade, a memorial ceremony will be held on the grounds of the
Novi Civic Center Campus to honor the sacrifice and service to our country given by our
veterans. In addition to the traditional wreath laying, gun salute, and patriotic songs,
Michael F. Harris – Executive Director of the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America, will be
the guest speaker.

It’s not too late to join in the festivities. Residents with family and friends currently serving in
our military are encouraged to march with the “Novi Supports Our Troops” banner. Children
are invited to decorate their bikes and join in the fun as part of the “Kid’s Bike Parade”. For
participation information, visit cityofnovi.org. Other parade highlights include a veteran
recognition float, the Michigan Justin Morgon Horse Association, local scout troops, local
bands and colorful entries by several Novi businesses, churches and civic organizations.

The parade and ceremony are sponsored by Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America.
