Books for Africa
We are delighted to report on the results of last year’s
Giving Project, to collect books for a school in Africa.
At the initiative of ISM students Autumn and Roman
Rose, over 750 books were donated by ISM students,
each child being asked to donate, initially, just one
The books were delivered to the Tlhagene Primary
School in Molatedi in South Africa and the library there
(now known as the Rose Library) was inaugurated on
November 28th 2010 in a special ceremony attended by
the Rose family.
The children there have sent many hand written cards
of thanks, one wrote “I will be a writer one day “, another
wrote “ I want to be a poet, thank you!”, yet another
wrote “You are our heroes, thank you”. These cards will
be on display in the Primary School until the end of this
This is a wonderful example of reaching out to others
where it will truly make a difference and where our
students can become directly involved.

ISM Re-Accreditation—Opinion Survey
We would like to thank all parents, staff and students who took the time to
complete the on-line Opinion Survey just before the half term break. Over
190 parents responded, representing 80% of the student body, and well over
200 ISM students completed their own survey, as well as the majority of
teachers. Your input is very valuable and the C.I.S. now have sufficient data
to make the survey valid; results are being analysed and we will keep you
informed as to the next developments.
ISM student in French television talent contest
Grace Convert, who joined Class 10 this year, has won a place in the
semi-finals of the French television talent show “La France a un
incroyable talent”, on Channel M6. Using the stage name of Grace
Rose, she sang “Me and Mr Jones” by Amy Winehouse.
The next round will be on Wednesday December 1st on M6 at 20h40
when the public will have a chance to vote directly. We very much
hope ISM students will support Grace by voting for her on the night
and we wish her the best of luck!
Charity greetings cards
Once again, Beatrix (Class 8C) and Hadrien (Class 5C)
Pratte-Ness have designed and produced a range of
charming greetings cards; the space inside is left blank for
you to write your own message and the cards are on sale
at both Reception desks for 20 euros per pack of 10 cards
and envelopes. Proceeds will go towards supplying
mosquito nets in developing countries—please do support
this worthy cause and student-led initiative!
ISM students selected for
Congratulations and good luck to Class 12 students: Maria
Bergamasco and Anna Nassar who were selected, after a
difficult qualifying round, to represent ISM at “The Big Debate”
sponsored by the “Association des Jeunes Monégasques” as
well as the Jeune Chambre Economique and the British
Association of Monaco. The theme is “This house believes that men and women were created
equal”. The final debate, involving several schools and institutions, will take place on November
24th—results in the next issue. Alina Veladini, who graduated from ISM in June 2010, will be
representing the International University of Monaco.
