                 Information Note for WHSPA 2011 Athletics Carnival

   Your son/daughter will be attending the annual school athletics carnival on Wednesday 4th May, 2011
    to be held at the Kerryn McCann Athletic Field, Beaton Park Leisure Centre.
   As it is a normal school day, attendance for all students Years 7 – 12 is compulsory. Should it be
    raining on the day an announcement will be placed with the local radio stations advising students as to
    whether to attend the carnival or school.
   The carnival will commence with roll call in normal roll call groups in the trackside grandstand at 8.50
    am.
   A second roll call will be held at the completion of the carnival at approx 2.45 pm.
   Students are required to remain in attendance for the duration of the carnival.
   If a student should need to leave the carnival early, than normal early leaving procedures should be
    followed. Parental notes requesting an early leaver pass for their child/ward should be presented to Mr
    Hearne or Mr Ellevsen (Deputy Principals) at Beaton Park Athletics Track between 8.30 am - 9.30 am
    and an early leaver pass obtained. This pass must be presented to the staff member on gate duty before
    your child/ward will be allowed to leave the carnival.
   Students are expected to take an active part in the carnival by participating in at least three events.
   Students are to make their own way to and from the carnival. (Staff members will meet students at
    school and walk them to and from the carnival if required - these students can meet staff outside the
    gymnasium at 8.20 am).
   This is the only full school carnival so it is an opportunity for all students, staff and parents to
    enjoy a competitive and fun day.
   Students should wear P.E. uniform or suitable running attire with a jumper/tracksuit to keep them warm
    if the weather is cold. Suitable mufti attire is acceptable BUT no skimpy singlet tops, offensive t-shirts,
    thongs etc.
   Any parent who wishes to assist at the carnival will be most welcome, so please contact Ms Clancy
    (Carnival Convenor on 4229 6844 during school hours or reply on the bottom of this form).
   We would also appreciate parental help at the Zone Athletics Carnival which will be held in Week 9 of
    this term on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June. (Once again if you could help out please let Ms
    Clancy know as soon as possible).
   A program of events for the WHSPA Athletics Carnival - is available from the PDHPE staffroom.
   The cost of this year’s carnival is $3.00 per student. This must be paid upon entry on Carnival day.
    This covers the cost of equipment and facility hire.
   A canteen will be operating on the day.
