The total fee for the ISIBM program is $3695 (Canadian). Fees includes accommodation and meal plan. A non-refundable application deposit of CAD$600 must accompany each application and will be applied to the total ISIBM program fees. The fee for the optional Preparatory BusinessEnglish Course is $695 (Canadian). The fee includes accommodation and meal plan for the week of study prior to the start of the core ISIBM program. An additional non-refundable deposit of CAD$100 is required and will be applied to the total Business English course fees. DETAILS
Established in 1999, this four-week intensive program is delivered by the University of Victoria's award-winning Faculty of Business. The program is designed to enhance business education and English - open to both undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in and recommended by universities/colleges that are officially recognized by the national government agency for education in their respective country. - a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper-based) / 173 (computerbased) or equivalent English language level in order to be accepted Students who successfully complete the ISIBM program will receive a letter of completion and official academic record of grades from the UVIC Faculty of Business - Students have attended from many countries, including Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, France, Austria, and China - Extra activities such as whale watching, kayaking and visits to world famous sites such as Butchart Gardens. Costs for most of these activities are included in the tuition fee. - program is divided into two sections (or modules) carried over four weeks, July 4 – 29, 2005. All students will participate in the two-week Business Communication and the two-week International Business and Entrepreneurship module. The ISIBM program is equivalent to six credit hours of course work. - optional Preparatory Business-English course, which starts one week before the start of the ISIBM core program.

MODULE 3 - 3 credit-hours - July18 - 29, 2005 International Business, Entrepreneurship and Service Management (Required) - 39 lecture hours and academic projects, equivalent to 3 credithours Three modules: Entrepreneurship: marketing, strategy, stakeholder management, and finance planning. International business module: topics include evaluating the attractiveness of different markets and considering the best ways to approach them, differences in culture and the impact on consumer behavior and human resource management, and the type of adaptation to a business plan that is required for different markets. No prior knowledge of the language is necessary. (A minimum of 18 credit hours of language study at York University) Every student is required to spend at least one academic term abroad at one of the Schulich School's exchange partners. While on exchange, the student must carry a full-time course load. The exchange term is either the second term of Year 3 or the first term of Year 4 (and/or the summer following Year 3). Volunteer service in non-profit organizations will similarly qualify for credit, as will unpaid internships in business organizations. Program organizes an optional International Study Tour following the second year of studies. The International Study Tour consists of travel to three countries. In cooperation with Schulich School exchange partner institutions, one week of instruction is offered in each country. The International Study Tour is approximately three to four weeks in duration.

Global Work Term Some 250 companies and organizations in close to 55 countries have sponsored Schulich work abroad terms. Non-Canadian students have the opportunity to work for employers in Canada. Exchange Term - exchanges allow students to gain firsthand knowledge and exposure to the business methods and perspectives of other countries. International Field Study - offers students the ultimate in integrative learning and one of the richest and most intense experiences of the IMBA Program. During the field study, students undertake a real-time strategic consulting project at a real world business or organization with international operations. -

Courses The IMBA program offers exclusive access to specially designed international management courses, as well as to Schulich’s more than 100 elective courses in 19 areas of specialization. Students can choose up to two business specializations such as finance or marketing. With advance planning, it is also possible to take a Graduate Diploma simultaneously in a specialization such as Nonprofit Management and Leadership or Arts and Media Administration. Regional Specialization - students specialize in one of the world’s other major business markets: North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America or South and Southeast Asia. Language Study Students graduate with the ability to conduct business in an international language at a certified oral professional level. French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish and English as a Second Language (for students from abroad). In the past, other languages have included Portuguese, Cantonese, Hindi, Russian, Tagalog, Korean, and Serbo-Croatian. Coursework provides associates with an applied understanding of international management principles and practice. Languages and cross-cultural communication studies provide associates with intensive practical language training. Regional and country context studies provide associates with an in-depth historical, cultural, political and economic grounding which complements core management competencies. The academic period includes business and non-profit management skills, regional context and country analysis (i.e. cultural, social, economic, political topics), languages, communications and computer skills training. The program combines lectures, seminars, workshops, case studies, real projects, networking events and personal mentoring in order to prepare professionals for smooth international integration, quick adaptation and effective performance at a professional level in any of the countries in the region.
