Widener University Pre-Orientation Programs
orientation program is designed to help ease the transition from high school to college. It provides the perfect setting for incoming freshmen to get a head start on making new friends prior to the start of college. The wilderness certified upperclassmen leaders teach the students fundamental outdoor skills while engaging in exciting activities. They aim to help the freshmen overcome the typical fears about Three optional Pre-Orientation programs are available to Widener University's incoming freshmen. Meet other freshman and participate in activities to introduce you to Widener’s civic and campus goals, and life in our metropolitan area.

Overall Goals
Widener strives to achieve a variety of goals with its pre-orientation programs, most importantly is a sense of community and responsibility amongst our students. Specifically, these programs were created to smooth the transition between high school and Widener, by introducing freshmen to Widener’s perspective on academic and civic life.
Multicultural Program
Office of Multicultural Student Affairs Pre-Orientation Program Begins: Thursday, August 27, 2009 Ends: Sunday, August 30, 2009 Cost: $100 Capacity: 30 Students
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) will host a pre-orientation program for new Widener University students of African-American, Hispanic, Native American descent, and other students from under-represented populations. The MSA Pre-Orientation program offers incoming freshmen the opportunity to establish peer support networks that will assist them with the transition to college life. Students will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the Chester campus and the local community, meet new friends, and learn what is required to succeed in college.
Leadership Program
The Leadership Pre-Orientation Begins: Thursday, August 27, 2009 Ends: Sunday, August 30, 2009 Cost: $100 Capacity: 30 students
The Leadership Pre-Orientation program provides an opportunity to expand opportunities for the leadership development of our students. This program serves as a foundation for participating in ongoing leadership activities on campus and during the school year. The program makes use of the university's leadership core competencies. During the program students will have the opportunity to go off campus to meet with local area leaders, participate in leadership and teambuilding experiences, take an emotional learning survey and receive an assessment, create a leadership development plan, and take a leadership role in freshman orientation.
