Auxiliary, Community Service, and Service Learning Assistant (30 hours per week) This is a ¾ time position that reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs. The ideal candidate will be dynamic and innovative, as well as computer-savvy. This person will help to grow and sustain Georgetown Day School's Auxiliary Programs as well as it's high school community service and service learning programs. While this job entails a significant amount of administrative work, some programmatic support at both camps and service activities will be required, including limited work on weekends and holidays. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Auxiliary Programs • Help with the implementation of mission-based, auxiliary programs • Brainstorm and execute marketing ideas that will build interest in our programs • Maintain the database for space usage and various camps • Maintain the calendar for the requests for facilities • Work with individuals who are interested in renting the different facilities • Collect payments for different rentals and programs Service Learning and Community Service • Collect and record high school students' community service hours • Help to organize an annual community service fair for high school students • Assist in logistics of various community service programs • Assist in research of service learning programs • Help to contact various service organizations when necessary • Establish good relations with service partners General • • • • • • • • •
Ensure timely delivery of program materials and participant information to staff Keep Maintenance, Transportation and Security updated about relevant events Contact/visit local schools and businesses, as required, with program information Some weekend, weeknight, or school holiday time required in exchange for weekday work: Must be available to attend 2 weekend camp fairs per year; will also share attendance at rentals and break camps with Dir. of Auxiliary Programs Handle printing and mailing of program materials Ensure that all staff paperwork and hiring procedures are consistent, complete and appropriately processed Work with the accounting department to ensure that all expenses and income are properly recorded Handle program related supplies, including ordering, restocking, inventory, and distribution to program staff Work no more than 60 hours in a 2 week period
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS • Must enjoy working with children and youth of all ages • Must be familiar with Microsoft Excel, including mail merges • Must have database experience, preferably with Access-based databases as well as others • Must show attention to detail, strong writing skills, and good phone etiquette • Should have an interest in program design and implementation • Ability to use and willingness to learn Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) a plus
