Individual Counseling A teacher, principal, parent, or staff member may refer a student for counseling. This safe and caring environment helps children cope and develop successful ways to manage areas of difficulty that interfere with the learning process. Managing feelings, getting along with others, and adjusting to life changes are common topics of counseling. Communication Counselors discuss and problem-solve concerns related to families’ understanding of their child’s growth and development, as well as how to accommodate any special needs their child may have. A positive relationship between school and home enhances the academic and personal/social development of children. Please ask your child about these lessons throughout the school year. Families’ interest and involvement are so important! Referral Counselors provide referral information about additional school and community services and resources that may be helpful.
