In addition to these regular sessions, the mentor will spend one full day with the protégé at his/her district. Additional onsite visits may be arranged if mutually agreed upon. TASBO’s goal in offering this Mentoring Program is to help districts develop and retain the caliber of people required to successfully manage school business and operations. Program Eligibility All TASBO members and non-members, across all specializations, are eligible to participate. Training and Support TASBO provides a mandatory, competency-based training program for mentors and protégés (one day for the mentors and one half-day for the protégés). All participants are required to attend training. In addition, TASBO will provide periodic support calls, to both mentors and protégés, to ensure that the program is meeting their needs. Our Protégés Say: “I got a new job last night at the board meeting. Good thing I had … the TASBO Mentoring Program. Thank you for the opportunity to gain knowledge and insight.” “As a new member of the school business community, the advice and guidance I received from my mentor was invaluable. We still maintain a great working relationship.” Program Fees The cost of participating as a protégé for the 20092010 year is $495. This covers the costs of materials, assessment instruments, and training, and includes a one-year membership in TASBO. Mentors will receive a nominal stipend as well as travel reimbursement for the training and the visit to the protégé’s district. Our Mentors Say: “The ability to share all my years of experience and knowledge with someone new to the position is a way to personally acknowledge all of those that helped me throughout the years.” “Participating in this program has been a very rewarding experience…I think I’ve gotten as much out of it as my protégé.” Key Dates Applications and nominations are due by August 24. Training is mandatory and is offered on September 16. The program begins in October 2009 and runs through August 2010. Act Now!
