Program Mission: The Seattle Goodwill (SGW) Job Training and Education (JTE) Program is a community based training and education program funded primarily by Seattle Goodwill. SGW programs provide retail training, job skills, reading, and writing, English as a Second Language, math, and computer literacy to the residents of the communities we serve. Job Summary: Responsible for classroom instruction/training and student support services. Plan for and deliver adult education classes, administer examinations, provide case management and referrals, and collect and record data as it pertains to student progress. Attend staff meetings and work on special projects as assigned. Use educational technology. Essential Functions  Provide at least 12 hours per week of direct instruction as part of the Retail and Customer Service job training program. Class topics include:  Customer Service  Retail Merchandising  Sales  Cashiering  Supervise students during their on-the-job-training (OJT) experiences working in Goodwill stores  Develop lesson plans, activities, and materials  Provide case management and support services to students  Maintain student records and data to track student progress and retention  Maintain and express enthusiasm and commitment to helping students learn  Participate in outreach and intake activities to register new students  Present special lectures, seminars, and workshops as requested  Participate in subject area instructor meetings, staff meetings, and other departmental projects  Submit schedules (in advance) to the VP of Loss Prevention for approval. Keep the Vice President of Loss Prevention informed of all significant events.  Other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements  Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Social Work, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.  Minimum two years of job placement and/or teaching/training experience  Minimum two years experience working in human resources, management, recruiting, retail, sales, or related field  Practice and success in simplifying and communicating complex ideas and tasks.               Experience with the hiring process and in making hiring decisions Experience training/teaching adults who face barriers to economic opportunity and who may have little or no formal education Must be flexible and have the ability to work in an environment with very diverse groups of people. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal, plus the ability to interact with a wide variety of people, including those with limited English. Must have exemplary customer service, relationship building, and listening skills. Able to work flexible hours, and independently. Strong organizational skills. Must be able to multi-task and deal with multiple, sometimes conflicting, deadlines. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and have the ability to learn new software as appropriate and necessary to the job. Commitment to continued learning and professional development Knowledge of Kitsap county employers strongly preferred Experience working with immigrant/refugee communities preferred Experience developing curriculum preferred Experience integrating educational technology into the classroom preferred Experience with workforce development a plus Proficiency with Experience This job classification requires various levels of proficiency and experience:  Willing ( little or no experience required)  Developing (demonstrates some knowledge and skills of duties, with at least 6 months of experience)  Skilled (demonstrates ample knowledge and skills of duties, with 1-3 years of experience)  Expert (demonstrates exceptional knowledge and skills of duties, and excellence in all areas) Reports To: Silverdale JTE Site Specialist Terms of Employment This is a full time exempt position.
