2.)      CHIEF’S ACTIVITIES

         ♦         Attended CVMIC Risk Assessment and provided documentation of standard
                   departmental practices
         ♦         Attended and presented at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Police and Fire
                   Commission
         ♦         Completed preparations for the Police School Liaison Officer Selection Process
         ♦         Attended a Hartford Rotary Club Board meeting
3.)      ACCOMPLISHED PROJECTS/TASKS/ACTIVITIES

         ♦         Sergeant Jim Zywicki assumed command of the Patrol Division’s Second Shift
                   on May 17, 2010.
         ♦         Officer Herbert Raasch began his tour of duty on May 3, 2010.
         ♦         The Hartford Police Department participated in the 2010 annual Washington
                   County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony at Washington County Fair Park
                   on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. A fallen Hartford officer, Marshal Leonard Scherger,
                   was among those honored at the cememony. The Hartford City Band performed
                   prior to the ceremony.
         ♦         Hartford Officers Krick and Dorn represented our department at the statewide
                   Memorial Service for Fallen Officers in Madison on May 7, 2010.
         ♦         On May 31, 2010, the Hartford Police Department sadly announced the death of
                   18-year Hartford Police Department veteran, Officer Steven Wannow, 41, on
                   Sunday, May 30, 2010. Steve’s life and service to the community will be
                   remembered via a law enforcement funeral on Friday, June 4, 2010.
4.)         ANTICIPATED PROJECTS/TASKS/ACTIVITIES

            ♦         June 14, 2010, a competitive selection process will be undertaken for the Police
                      School Liaison’s Position

5.)         TRAINING

            ♦         Roll Call Training Modules continued in May
            ♦         All sworn staff completed a Roll Call Training Session on “Facts and Myths”
                      regarding low income housing programs, presented by Robin Reshel
            ♦         Sergeant Cummings attended SWAT Training with the Washington County
                      Sheriff’s SWAT Team
            ♦         Chief Groves and Captain Horvath attended a Facilities Management and Pre-
                      planning Training course in Milwaukee.

7.)         CASES OF INTEREST

            ♦          05-19-10, a 41-year-old Hartford man reported that while he was at his residence
                      on Mulbery St, an unknown male subject entered his residence without knocking.
                      This unknown individual claimed that he and the complainant had been
                      conversing through an ad on Craigslist. The subject then informed him that based
                      on those conversations he had come to the residence to perform the sex acts they
                      had discussed. When the subject realized there was some type of mistake; he left
                      the residence on foot. This complaint remains under investigation.
