Job Summary:
Residential Enrichment Specialist Group Home Manager Nonexempt
Under general supervision, responsible for supervising and assisting group home residents with activities and individual goals. Acts as lead person on assigned shift and is responsible for instructing other staff in the correct procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Serve as an advocate for Group Home residents, supervising and assisting with their daily activities as they work towards their individual goals; implement instruction by consultants and/or therapists. Ensure that individuals are engaged and supervised at all times. Encourage individuals to participate in community activities and encourage peer relationships. Attend and participate in individual’s doctor visits. Maintain confidentiality of residents per LifeSpan policy and HIPPA. Assess needs; assist residents in personal hygiene (male and/or female). Complete records and documentation (e.g. daily data collection, progress notes, medication administration records, etc). Adhere to the principles of the LifeSpan ChOICES Training curriculum. Ensure a clean, safe and orderly environment for residents by performing general cleaning and light housekeeping. Handle emergency situations according to emergency procedures; assist with fire drills. Assist with meal preparation and clean up, according to OSHA regulations. Communicate with a variety of individuals and groups (e.g. residents, day program staff, supervisor, families, consultants) in a professional and positive manner. Receive, review, process, file and submit a variety of documents and reports accurately and in a timely manner. Operate a variety of office and other equipment (e.g. copier, telephone, vacuum, food preparation equipment, etc). Assist with grocery shopping; plan and prepare meals; assist with clean up after meals.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Participate in all team meetings. Transfer data logs monthly from daily permanent records. Review documentation daily to ensure appropriate recording. Monitor petty cash and individual’s personal spending. Monitor Enrichment Trainers’ time sheets. Observe Enrichment Trainers’ interactions and offer comments or suggestions for improvement; train staff as needed. Perform the duties of the Group Home Manager in their absence, as needed. Administer medications, as needed. Work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by program. Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all LifeSpan safety standards and regulations.

Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Some experience working with individuals with development disabilities in a residential setting is preferred. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Physical Requirements Must be able to operate a variety of equipment (e.g. wheel chairs, lifts, etc.). Must be able to exert up to seventy-five pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work; position requires walking, standing, reaching, fingering, stooping, etc. Will lift no more than forty pounds independently. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to one hundred and seventy-five pounds with assistance. Other Qualifications Must possess a valid NC Driver’s License; First Aid and CPR Training; Must be certified to administer medication within 90 days of employment.
