Special Notes
The Secretary will acknowledge receipt of entry fees before the show and forward Riding or Exhibitors Numbers or Labels to all exhibitors. Should these not arrive, exhibitors should contact the Secretary. Exhibitors cars and vehicles must be parked in the enclosure provided for them.

No car will be allowed on to the show ground except by permission of the Secretary. The Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur from Disease, Accident or any other cause in or about the show ground. Exhibitors must park horseboxes as directed by car park officials. Failure to do so could debar them from exhibiting in their classes.
Rules & Regulations
1. OPEN AND LOCAL CLASSES
A & J ANIMAL FEEDS

All classes are open unless otherwise specified. To qualify as an exhibitor in a ‘Local’ class an exhibitor must normally reside within seven miles of Mottram church. Animals exhibited in ‘Local’ classes must have been bred by the exhibitor, or have been in his possession for not less than four weeks immediately before the show. Any exceptions to these ‘Radius’ and ‘Residence’ rules are shown in this schedule against the items concerned.
2. MAKING AND CLOSING OF ENTRIES / ENTRY FEES

Exhibitors are requested to read and examine the regulations contained in the ‘Prize Schedule’ and to state each class number distinctly on the entry form, as no alteration can be made after the form has been received by the secretary. No entry fee will be returned unless a medical or veterinary certificate is produced. Entries should be made on the form provided and the full amount of fees must accompany them. Cheques and Postal orders are to be made payable to: ‘MOTTRAM & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY’ To prevent errors and to enable adequate provision to be made for exhibits, all entries must be made by the date published.
3. MARKING AND DISTINGUISHING EXHIBITS
OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK
Until the prizes have been awarded in any class, the exhibits will be distinguished only by the official numbers, which will be supplied by the Secretary before the opening of the show or on application to the Secretary on the show ground. Any other method of identifying an exhibit or indicating its ownership is prohibited
4. SOCIETY NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS ETC.
The Society will exercise all reasonable care for the comfort and safety of exhibits but will not be responsible for the entire or partial loss, detention of, damage to them, or any other property, or to any person whether arising from accident or through any act or omission of the Society or its representatives or from any other cause. It is a condition of entry that each exhibitor will hold the Society blameless and will indemnify it against any legal proceeding’s or compensation for damage, arising out of or in consequence of or in connection with any such claim, loss, accident or damage. Entries are accepted only on this understanding. All exhibitors and competitors to the show must be covered by a ‘Public Liability Policy’, including show use. The Society recommends an indemnity of not less than one million pounds (£1,000,000) for any one accident. The Society reserves the rights to require any exhibitor to produce proof that a suitable Public Liability Policy is in force.

5. JUDGES DECISION, POWER TO DISQUALIFY EXHIBITS AND WITHHOLD PRIZES
The decision of the Judges shall, in all cases, be final, except: Where the Judge has made a bona fide mistake, in which case the Judges may review or reconsider their decision or alter their awards Where fraud, misrepresentation or breach of these regulations is discovered, the Judges shall be empowered to disqualify an exhibit found to be unsound, dyed, trimmed or fraudulently dealt with and also to withhold prizes, either wholly or in part, in cases of insufficient merit. All cups and trophies are now perpetual and must be returned, not later than 1st August following the show, to the Cup Secretary.
7. PROTESTS AND OBJECTIONS 6. CUP AND TROPHIES
Any protest or objection must be made by an exhibitor to the Secretary in writing, stating the reason and accompanied by a deposit of £20.00 in each instance. The amount shall be retained by the Society if in the opinion of the committee the objection is frivolous. Each protest or objection must be lodged with the Secretary before the close of the class. The Society’s Committee during the show or at a subsequent date may consider protests and objections. Both the Objector and Exhibitor must, before the hearing of the protest, have been notified in writing as to the nature of the objection and the time, date and place of the meeting where it will be considered and enquired into
8. PENALTIES
Any exhibitor or their representatives or agent, who in the opinion of the committee, has wilfully committed a breach of regulations or conditions included in the prize schedule. Any exhibitor or their representatives or agent who has aided or abetted in such a breach or who has obtained or attempted to obtain a prize or award by fraud or wilful misrepresentation or unscrupulous act, Any exhibitor or their representatives or agent proved guilty of discreditable conduct, Shall forfeit entry fees and any prize or prizes that may have been awarded to their exhibits or to those of which they have been in charge.
9. POWERS OF COMMITTEE
The Committee reserves unto itself the absolute rights and powers, to interpret these or any other regulations or conditions as contained in the prize schedule, or any alteration of or additions to, those that may be advertised in agricultural or fanciers journals. The power to determine and settle finally all matters or questions or differences in respect of or in conjunction with or arising out of the show. The power to refuse and to return any entry without stating the reason, to disqualify exhibitors or prohibit the exhibition of exhibits. The power to cancel or amalgamate classes, change or appoint additional judges, vary or cancel awards, prizes or reserved numbers, or to relax any conditions as they may deem expedient.
10. MISUSE OR ABUSE OF EQUIPMENT
Any misuse or abuse of equipment in the opinion of the Judge or Officials of the Society may result in disqualification of the exhibit or exhibitor in question.
11. HEIGHT OF HORSES
The Society may require that any horse in any class where height is a stipulation is measured before or after entering the ring and appearing before the Judge or before the Judge finally makes his award. When a protest has been lodged against a horse in respect of height, the Secretary shall have the power to instruct one of the Society’s appointed representatives to measure the animal. The decision, which must be in writing, shall be final. The animal must be measured with or without shoes, as paraded for competition before the Judges.
12. AGE
No horse or pony under 4 years of age is to be shown under saddle. The age of riders is to be as at 1st January of the current year. Horses & Ponies age 1 year on 1st January.
13. SAFETY
All riders must wear hard hats and the appropriate riding clothing. The committee draws attention to warning and direction notices displayed on the show ground with particular regard to the separation of the public from exhibitors, their animals and equipment.
14. SIZE OF CLASSES
Any class with less than three entries may be subject to cancellation or amalgamation without notice. Classes may split by height or breed if there are sufficient entries on show day.
15. TIMING OF EVENTS
While every effort will be made to adhere to the Timetable as published, please note that after 10:30 a.m. classes may be called up to half an hour before their scheduled time as advised by the Public Address System. No responsibility can be accepted for Competitors being entered in more than One Class at a time.

A Novice is the combination of horse and rider not having won a first prize at the time of submitting their entry to the show.
17. STALLIONS
Stallions must be Ridden or Handled by a competent person over 18 years old. No entry fees will be refunded or any classes held up in the event of any exhibit competing in more than one class at the same time, however, please take great care to follow the instructions of the stewards and please: -
