The Pamela York Klainer Center for Women and Business Presents: Norma Holland, WHAM-13 News Andrea Holland, Mix 100.5 FM Talk show host "Media Careers and Keeping an open mind in your studies" Wednesday, September 14th, 2005 South 340 5:00pm-6:00pm Only two things can get Norma Holland out of bed at 2:30 each morning: fresh brewed coffee and the latest news. Norma has co-anchored NewsSource 13 This Morning with Doug Emblidge since January 2002. However, Norma has been with NewsSource 13 since 1996 when she was a junior in college. She graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Norma has held a number of positions at the station including reporter, assignment editor, and weekend anchor. “It’s truly an honor to work here. I grew up watching this channel with my parents,” Norma says. An Irondequoit native, Norma enjoys working in her hometown surrounded by her family. When she’s not working or spending time with her husband, Matthew, Norma can be found at her parent’s home in Irondequoit, “asking Mom to make me some Puerto Rican rice and beans,” she says. Norma now lives in the city and relishes her role as wife to Matthew and mother of Pancho, a chihuahua she and Matt adopted. Norma is a member of Latinas Unidas, a networking group of Latina women from Rochester. She also volunteers her time with Families and Friends of Murdered Children, a local support group for people whose loved ones have been victims of violence. She attended Bishop Kearney High School and SUNY Geneseo where she was a Communications Major and a Public Relations minor. She now works for Mix 100.5 and is a morning talk show host with Chuck Kelley, every weekday morning from 5:30am to 10am.
