Welcome From Our Principal

Dear CHIME Community,

The energy around this carnival is astounding. It has been cooking for a
long time. People have been working, planning and strategizing to make this
year’s event not just a fundraiser, but a community builder and a wonderful
memory for the children that we love. This catalogue is just one of the outcomes
of a group of people working hard together to make things happen. Sounds like
CHIME, right?

This carnival and auction are so important to the instructional program
here. The hard work and contributions that go into and come out of the carnival
mean that we will continue to have an amazing art teacher to plan and instruct
with our teaching teams. It is a very satisfying thing to know that we are in
charge of our dreams for this school. Together we are making CHIME what we
want it to be for the scholars here. Thank you to those who contributed to, put
together, and to those who will buy silent auction items. None of this would
happen without you.

Finally, I just want to remind you all what a powerful message we send to
children about their education when we work for and at their school. By signing
up for the Carnival to set up, tear down, or work a booth, we have a chance to
show our commitment. This year, that message is loud and clear.

Thank you for your support and for your children,

                             Julie Fabrocini
                             Principal, CHIME Charter School

Welcome From Our Carnival Chair
Hello CHIME Families

Carnival again! Can you believe it? We are definitely going Out of This
World this year! The event will be filled with all kinds of alien life forms- spend
some time looking at all the amazing art work that our kids have made- robots,
aliens and rockets! And don’t forget the parents’effort: we have a 16’ rocket-step
inside and see what you see!

Our game booths have all had a spit and polish and there is fun stuff
planned. Come mix up some goo at the “lab” or make a 100% fully recycled
bracelet. We have done our best to reduce, reuse and recycle, and we have made
many of our carnival prizes! Don’t be surprised when your child brings home
some super strong bubbles or intergalactic dough: it is homemade and locally
produced!

The entertainment will once again be brought to you from the far stretches
of the galaxy and will include a tight rope walker, aerialist and much more! Bring
the whole family!

To make all this happen successfully it requires a huge group effort. Have
we all been pummeled with requests for help this year? You bet. But we simply
have to participate as much as we can if we want our kids to have the best
education they can.

Did you know the funds from the carnival go to support our art
program??? What a valuable, amazing program we have. Let’s keep it going-
always!

Looking forward to hearing kids perform, play games, eat great food and
pick up some “necessities” at the silent auction!

       See you Saturday!

                              Mary Herbert

Message From
Our Silent Auction Chairs

Welcome to the Carnival and Silent Auction! What a wonderful day to be
at CHIME. Proceeds from this event go to support our fantastic art, music and
library programs.

This auction was only possible because of the tireless efforts by so many
people from the CHIME community. Thank you to all of the women and children
who shared their Spring Break and creativity to help wrap baskets. Thank you to
all of you who pursued donations from all over the Los Angeles area! For
mounting certificates, collecting classroom and teacher donations, organizing
checkout, making bows and signs...THANK YOU! This truly is a team effort.

This year we’ve divided the donations into color-coded categories to help
streamline the shopping experience! Although some items could fall into more
than one category, we hope that the groupings will make it easier to find exactly
what you want. Whether that’s an afternoon with your teacher, a student
decorated pot, an evening at the Four Seasons, or a tour of the Desperate
Housewives set, we’ve got something for everyone! Shop gift certificates for
dinners or haircuts, classes or camps, yoga or facials, and so much more!

Please come and enjoy the Silent Auction! This school community
collected, donated and created over 300 items. The following pages outline the
available items and in which category you’ll find them. Have a great time!!

                                    Sincerely,
                                    Alyssa Bartholomew and Amy Perkins

We’d like to say a special thank you to Shelbi Doherty for all of her guidance as the Silent Auction
guru! We could not have done this without the systems and forms and donor lists that she
created. Thank you!

Silent Auction Procedures & Tips

                                   Procedures & Rules
1. Bid on items by writing your name and phone number on bid sheets. Please be sure to start
bidding at the listed minimum bid and increase bids by listed increments. If you increase
your bid by less than the listed minimum raise, your bid will be deemed invalid.

2. Bidding for the auction ends at 3:00. There will be a bell at 3:00 signaling the end of the
auction. Final bids must be placed and everyone must leave the bidding coral immediately.

3. Bidders will be invited back into the bidding coral after white bid sheets have been
collected. When you are invited back, you will walk through the bidding area to determine
if you have won anything. If you are the last bidder on the yellow bid sheet, you are the
       winner of that item.

4. If you are the winner, please remove the yellow sheet off the clipboard and hold onto it.
When you have collected all of your yellow sheets (items you have you have won), please
       complete the green Check-Out Form.

5. With your completed green Check-out Form in hand, please get in the appropriate line to
pay. Checks and cash are preferred; VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover
are also accepted forms of payment. Return yellow sheets to cashier.

6. When you have paid, please give your green form stamped “PAID” to an Auction Runner.
They will collect ALL of your won items for you, including originals of gift certificates.
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE ANY ITEMS YOURSELF.

Thank you for supporting CHIME Charter Elementary

• Consider group purchases: find other families that may want to share the cost and item you
     are bidding on.
• Share this catalog with your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers!
• Consider purchasing a basket where the contents can be used for separate gifts.
• Do you need a housewarming gift? Wedding gift? Birthday gifts? How about holiday gifts?
A get well gift? Something for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day?
• Check out quicker by paying cash or check!

Can’t wait to win? Keep your eye out for the BUY NOW price!
