The Program will place law students with practicing attorneys throughout San Diego County. Law students will be matched with attorneys based on the student's areas of interest and the attorney's practice areas. The purpose of the program is to provide law students with guidance in their legal career, and to help develop professional relationships with colleagues. We encourage all La Raza members to participate in the program. Sergio Feria District Court Judge Napolean A. Jones, Jr. died December 12, 2009 at his home. Born in 1940 in Michael Perez Hodge, Louisiana, Hon. Jones served most recently as a Judge of the United States District Court, Esther Sanchez Southern District of California. He was nominated by President Bill Clinton on June 8, 1994, to a Alvin Gomez seat vacated by Earl B. Gilliam, and was confirmed by the Senate on September 14, 1994. Hon. Arturo Herrera Jones assumed senior status on September 19, 2007. Luis Aragon Alex Balvaneda Hon. Jones was a graduate of San Diego State University, where he received his B.A. and a Lilia Garcia M.S.W. He earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1971. His professional career included service in the U.S. Army, and as a Staff Attorney for California Rural Carlos Varela Legal Assistance, in Modesto, California. Hon. Jones then became a staff attorney for the Defend- Victor M. Nunez ers, Inc. in San Diego, California. After serving in private practice, he was appointed as a judge to Virginia Y. Calderon the San Diego Municipal Court in 1977, and then as a Judge of the San Diego Superior Court in Clarice Estrada 1982.
