          POTABLE WATER
            STANDARDS
Only properly constructed and fitted vehicles totally
dedicated for potable water shall be approved.

Any tank previously used for hauling petroleum
products or nonfood material will not be approved as a
potable water vehicle

Where doubt exists with respect to their adequacy for
potable water supply use, tanks my be turned down for
use as a potable water vehicle.
    GENERAL
  REQUIREMENTS

Code of Federal Regulations
          Title 21
        Part 129.40
> All water contact equipment shall be
  suitable for its intended use, including
  tank surfaces, hoses, pumps, valves,
  fittings and lubricants.

> All such equipment shall be constructed
  of nontoxic, nonabsorbent material that
  can be adequately cleaned and sanitized.

> All equipment shall be constructed so as
  to allow inspection and adequate
  sanitation of water contact surfaces.

 Unacceptable: non-coated steel, galvanized
 pipe, or black pipe.

Must have seven ¾” faucets with
effective backflow prevention.
One 1” faucet.
Evenly spaced on a minimum 1½”
pipe.

Dates of cleaning and sanitation procedures;
description of process used ( cleaning agent,
contact time, and concentration of sanitizing
agent ).

Water sources used, dates, gallons, name of
person who authorized/directed use of source.

Delivery points, dates, volumes delivered.
            LOGBOOK
Copies of agreements, contracts, licenses.

Test results of bacterial analysis.
      CHLORINE RESIDUAL
          TEST KITS
Loading drinking water for transport.

After adding and disinfectant, if the addition of
disinfectant is necessary.

When unloading.

Every 24 hours the water is in use.
ALL POTABLE WATER TRUCKS SHALL
HAVE:
   BACKUP ALARM
   FIRE EXTINGUISHER
   NOT EXCEED GVWR
   APPROVED SPARK ARRESTER ON
   ALL NATURALLY ASPIRATED
   ENGINES.
