In the following pages, you’ll meet some of the tenants across our
five-state portfolio who make their living with edible inventories.
We’ll forgive you if your mouth waters as you read about their elegant
in-flight meals, spicy creole dishes, nutrition-packed school meals,
imported beer, deli provisions, root beer and more. It’s OK if you’re
not tempted to try Baltimore Dog Bakery’s dog biscuits, but take our
word for it — dogs love them.

As all-natural and organic foods become
increasingly popular and people become
more health-conscious, concern for pet
health is on the rise, too. With this in
mind, Key Wagner founded Baltimore
Dog Bakery in 1997 to offer all-natural
dog treats, which her firm now makes
in five varieties: original, peanut butter,
carrot, apple cinnamon and a combo
pack. Wagner said these tasty treats are
good for dogs’ teeth and digestive systems.
The Baltimore Dog Bakery produces
wholesale treats for grocery stores,
small shops and coffee shops primarily
in the northern states, but the company
also has customers in North Carolina,
Utah and even Malaysia. The small
company does its own baking,
packaging and distributing.
For the past five years, Baltimore Dog
Bakery One has been located at Caton
Research Center. “This location has
been fantastic,” Wagner said, noting that
the bakery is within a few minutes of the
area’s major highways.
Wagner said her business has continued
to grow, even in a challenging economy.
She said the only major challenge she
has encountered has been cats. “They
turn their noses up at our treats,” she
laughed. “My favorite part of what I do
is knowing that I’ve made a lot of dogs
happy — I love what I’m doing.”
