Amendments/acceptance of draft December minutes.

4.0 Operations and Environmental Update
EB
• Tabled a copy of the June 2008 CAC Update and provided a
verbal overview.
4.1 Mini Bike Club
MP
• Questioned if there was a date for the relocation of the mini-
bike club
JW
• Advised that WSN were still in discussion with council and
could not provide a date.

• Questioned if a new site had been agreed.

• Advised that WSN were still in discussion with council about
the location of the new site

• Questioned if the extent of infrastructure that the mini-bike
club needed to move.
MP
• Advised that, while there were only a couple of buildings to
relocate though there was a bit of track infrastructure that
needed moving.
• Advised that a couple of deep holes had recently been dug in
the car park and had expressed his concern to Guy Russell
that the holes had not been filled in afterwards.
EB
• Advised that she would follow this up directly with Guy EB June 08
Russell and contact MP with the outcome.
4.2 Community Feedback on the Operations Update
IK
• Questioned if an increase of odours associated with organic
matter was a machine function or wind.
JW
• Advised that the odour increase was just the deeper smell of
the organic matter.
IK
• Questioned if there had been any leachate overflows during
the recent rain.
EB
• Advised that there had been no leachate overflows, though
there was water overflow from the council dam
AM
• Advised that the council dam had filled after 2 days of rain in
February.
• Advised that construction activities associated with the dam
were now completed.
5.0 Community Feedback on odours
MP
• Advised that there have been a couple of strong odours
associated with the cooler mornings in the bottom of the
valley near Mill Creek though the odours dissipate once the
sun is up.
KM
• Advised that he has noticed odours while driving along
Heathcote Road around 8 -9pm

• Questioned what the odour smelt like.

• Updated the group on the construction of an AWT facility at
Lucas Heights. The Alternative Waste Technology (AWT) is a
positive direction when considering the present focus on
Greenhouse Gas issues. An AWT has recyclables recovery
from household waste before the treatment process. And the
treatment process enables the almost complete capture of
methane which is burnt to generate electricity. A similar
facility will be opened at Jacks Gully in July 2008.

• Questioned the best way to educate the community regarding
disposal of rubbish.

• Advised that the community relies on councils to do this
MP
• Questioned why the grass is dying in the council recreational
areas.
AM
• Advised that it was to do with the introduction of a new grass
to the golf course and that the grass should go back.
KM
• Requested that WSN provide site maps on the Sept site tour.
