 Most attractions have what's known as a "child swap" option. This enables parents with
children who can't ride a particular attraction due to height restrictions, age limits, or
personal choice to ride just the same. To switch off, there must be 2 adults. When your
group reaches the head of the line tell the Cast Member that you want to exercise the
child swap. At the loading area, one adult rides while the other stands off to the side
and watches the children. The other adult will then be allowed on the attraction, at the
head of the line, on the very next ride while the adult that already enjoyed the ride stays
with the kids. A third adult can experience the attraction with each of the switching off
adults if they don't want to ride alone. However, on Space Mountain, after the first adult
finishes the ride he must alert the attendant at the unloading area that they are switching
off. The attendant will then return you to the loading area via a special stairway to
watch the kids. It seems to work well for all involved.

                                                              - FassPass attractions
What is FASTPASS??
FASTPASS is Disney's innovative system to help reduce long waits at popular attractions. It was
introduced in 1999 and has been very successful.

Can Anyone Take Advantage of FASTPASS?
Absolutely! Any park guest can use FASTPASS. You do NOT have to have any special tickets or be
staying at a Disney resort hotel. FASTPASS is available to EVERYONE.

How Much Does FASTPASS Cost?
FASTPASS is included in your admission to the park. There is NO extra charge to use the system.

How does it Work?
When you approach a FASTPASS Attraction you will see 2 clocks. The first one will tell you how long
the normal wait time is, if you got in line right then. The other clock tells you what time you should
return if you got a FASTPASS ticket now.

Go to the FASTPASS ticket machine and insert your admissions ticket. EACH PERSON NEEDS A
FASTPASS TICKET! Out comes your FASTPASS indicating what time frame you may return to the
attraction. You are given a one hour time frame and may return during that period.

Once your FASTPASS time has arrived, return to the attraction and get in the line for FASTPASS
holders! Be sure to have your ticket out and ready to show the cast member. Further along in the waiting
area, a Cast Member will actually take your FASTPASS ticket.

Persons doing the Child Swap -- Each of you and your child NEEDS a FASTPASS ticket!
EXCEPTION: If you child is under 3 and was admitted to the park for free, you do not need a
          FASTPASS ticket for them.

What about Peak Attendance Times? Are the waits longer? Does FASTPASS Still work?

If the FASTPASS system works the way it should, wait times to board attractions after returning
with FASTPASS should usually be under 5 minutes, but not exceed 10 minutes (unless there
was a recent attraction downtime or other unusual situation).

The FASTPASS wait time should not be any longer during peak periods, because the
computerized system automatically spreads the FASTPASS guests evenly throughout the day
regardless of attendance level. The only thing different during peak periods is that since
FASTPASS demand is higher the return time (assigned time to come back) will be longer.

Therefore, during peak periods when there are more guests in the virtual queue the return time
gets extended further out into the day. For most attractions the return time is usually between 40
and 90 minutes and rarely extends beyond 2 hours. The exception is Test Track at Epcot, which,
because of high demand and lower ride capacity, will sometimes have a return time as far as 6
          hours out.

Are there cast members at the FASTPASS machines to handle questions, problems, etc.?
Yes, Cast Members are located at the FASTPASS machines to assist you with questions or problems.

Can one member of a family get FASTPASSs by carrying everyone's admission tickets for the whole family
and running them through the machine or does everyone have to go through the line w/their admissions
tickets in order to get their FASTPASS ?
Everyone does not have to go to the FASTPASS machine. However, before you separate from your
family/party, be sure to get each person's admission ticket (or resort ID which sometimes includes Park
Admission). You can only get ONE FASTPASS per card and EACH person needs one.

What happens if the ride breaks down or goes off-line?

If this happens, the system should stop issuing tickets. You will have the opportunity to use the
FASTPASS you acquired anytime during the rest of that day, once the attraction is operating normally
           again.

Can I request a Specific Time to Return?

No, you can not request a specific return time. The times are all computerized and you will only be
allowed to enter the FASTPASS line during the time stated on your FASTPASS ticket.

If the Fast Pass says 1:00 - 2:00 can it be used after 2:00 or does it expire?
It expires, unless the attraction has gone down for an extended period of time, in which case you will be
allowed to use it for the rest of the day, once the attraction is working again.

If the Fast Pass says 1:00 - 2:00 can I get a second FASTPASS at 2:01?
You will be able to get another one at approximately 5-10 minutes after 1:00 pm. It's not as instant as
         1:01pm

Let's say I have a FASTPASS for the Safaris at 10am. I ride at 10:00am, exit at 10:30 and then walk over to
Kali River Rapids before 11am. Can I get a new FASTPASS for Kali River Rapids?

Yes, the machine will issue you a new pass.

If I have a fast pass for Space Mountain for 1:00 to 2:00. Can I ride space mountain as many times as I
want using FASTPASS in between those hours?
No, you can only ride it once. A Cast Member will take your FastPass ticket once you are in the queue
         for the attraction.

Can I have Multiple FASTPASS Tickets at one time?
If your FASTPASS entrance time is more than 2 hours from the time you received your FASTPASS,
you can obtain a second FASTPASS 2 hours after the beginning time of the one in your hand. Or, if
your FASTPASS begins at 1:00pm; at 1:01pm you can get another FASTPASS.

Are there FASTPASS machines at other locations in the parks?

No, the FASTPASS machines for each attraction are only located at that attraction.

           What Attractions are FASTPASS Attractions?

Do I have to wait at all if I have a FASTPASS?
Yes, FASTPASS ticket holders may have to wait in line for the attraction. The key is,
you won't have to wait AS LONG as if you stood in the regular line. (See explanation
          above regarding Peak Attendance times.

Are FASTPASS Tickets issued during the entire time the park is open?
No, FASTPASS tickets are not issued all day long. Often the FASTPASS ticket machines may be shut
down a couple hours before closing time. During off-peak times, FASTPASS will often be shut down
when the standby wait time is under 30 minutes. Also when all available return times have been issued,
FASTPASS is closed for the rest of the day. At some popular attractions, this can happen as early as 1
p.m. Keep in mind that technical problems can close the FASTPASS system just as they do the
       attractions themselves.

What happens if I get a FASTPASS and the time stated is not good, like at the same time as a priority
seating for a meal? Can I cancel it so that it won't ruin my ability to get another FASTPASS at another
attraction?
No, you can't turn it in, so to speak. HOWEVER, you should be able to find out what times are being
given out when you approach the FASTPASS Machines. They are indicated on the signs above the
machines. If you can't tell, be sure and ask a Cast Member prior to getting your ticket.

Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is usually busiest on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Monday is often busier
because vacationers who often arrive on Sunday usually make the Magic Kingdom the first park they
visit. The greater crowd levels on Friday and Saturday (especially Saturday) are due to:

 Nighttime entertainment (SpectroMagic and Fantasy in the Sky) often running on those nights
even during non-peak times of the year.
 Local (Florida) park visitors are much more likely to visit on a Saturday than any other day of
          the week.

Epcot

Epcot is such a huge park that large crowds are much more easily absorbed herek than in the Magic
Kingdom. In addition, the night time entertainment (Tapestry of Nations and IllumiNations: Reflections
of Earth) run every night.

As a result, there is very little day-to-day fluctuation in crowd levels in Epcot. However, you will
notice a very large hour-to-hour fluctuation within each day. Crowd levels are much greater in the
evening than in the early morning when the park first opens.

Disney-MGM Studios

The Studios sees crowds that are much busier than usual on weekends possibly due to local visitors.
And beyond the very high crowd levels during special events weekends, such as Star Wars and Super
Soap (opera) weekends, you won't see much other fluctuation. Wednesdays experience a bump in
crowd levels, possibly due to that natural tendency of chronological park visitation that I'd mentioned.

Crowd patterns during a given day at the Studios is affected by the fact that the Studios is the smallest
of the four major theme parks. Crowds form early in the morning and stay pretty solid throughout the
day. Crowd levels peak during the afternoon parade (Disney Stars and Motor Cars) and towards the
end of the park day as people come back to the park to see Fantasmic, the park's nighttime show.

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is quite unique. First, understand that if Epcot is a huge park, then Animal Kingdom is
gargantuan. It is just so big and spread out that crowds are very easily absorbed into the walks and
gardens. However, unlike Epcot, Animal Kingdom has a dearth of attractions, restaurants, and shops. It
just doesn't have as much to keep people busy... so the park doesn't have anywhere near the
attendance levels that the other three parks experience. As a result, the park is generally open for a
much shorter period of time, closing as early as 5 or 6 p.m. on most days. This means that the density
of the crowds in the attraction queues is actually comparable to the other parks, with fewer people, but
for a much shorter period of time.

Animal Kingdom, like Epcot and the Studios, lacks the large of swings in crowd levels from day-to-day
seen at the Magic Kingdom. You may notice a decrease in crowd levels on Sundays, but it's not a major
difference from the other days of the week. You may also notice slightly higher crowd levels early in the
week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. I can only attribute that to the desire of those folks
who have yet to see this park, to do so early. In any case, since the park has less to see and do than
the other parks, visitors tend to lose interest by midweek, and make fewer return visits to Animal
Kingdom.

The views expressed here are not necessarily universally held. If you see something interesting, do it. If you’re not interested, don’t go. You
will disagree with some of my opinions eventually. Bold attractions are DO NOT MISS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

As far as hour-to-hour fluctuations in Animal Kingdom, there are three considerations:

 Since the park has shorter operating hours, crowds tend to form early in the day.
 Since the park is so large, visitors end up doing so much walking and wear themselves out
much faster than at the other parks.
 There is no nighttime entertainment at Animal Kingdom, so the crowds form strongly in the
morning, a peak during the afternoon parade (Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade), and drop
          steadily drop until park closing.

Conclusion

What park is best to visit on which day of the week and what time of the day? Without being dogmatic,
here is a summary of the general pattern, with black denoting average crowds, green denoting light, or
below-average crowds, red denoting crowds, and yellow denoting a slightly above-average crowd.

Weather

Bad weather can dampen your clothes, but not your fun. If you plan time in any of the major parks
when rain hits, you are guaranteed to get wet,- but with the possible exception of fireworks and parades
if the weather is really bad, you can still enjoy everything the parks offer.

Temperature and severe weather can also dictate whether you choose to enjoy one of the water parks
(River Country, Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach) on any given day.

Water Park Crowds

Due to their smaller size, the water parks are more susceptible to crowd fluctuations than the bigger
parks, and actually close their gates to additional visitors when they reach their maximum capacity.

The water parks tend to be least crowded on non-weekend days. On Saturdays and Sundays Orlando
area residents noticeably swell the crowds.

The crowds at the water parks increase significantly on particularly hot days and in the afternoons when
the sun is hottest, so keep them in mind as you plan your day.

Park Closing Hours

Epcot closes at 9 p.m. or later every night during the year. IllumiNations, the fireworks and music show
that plays around World Showcase Lagoon, runs every evening at 9 pm. or later. Although the Disney-
MGM Studios, closes after Epcot during the quieter times of the year, has an awe-inspiring nighttime
show called Fantasmic! that is not to be missed.

In contrast, the other parks have closing hours that vary widely during the year. During the busier
seasons, the Magic Kingdom, the Studios, and Animal Kingdom are open later, so the evening can be a
wonderful time to enjoy them. During the less crowded times of year, though, they close early, so you
cannot plan a full evening there.
