Sirius for the Iphone
The following provides instructions and content on how to configure your home PC and iphone to allow streaming of Sirius via the iphone:
1) Sirius Internet radio activation
If you don’t have a Sirius Radio then you need to sign up for Sirius service. If you do have Sirius radio and currently use it at home or in the car you still need to log into Sirius to activate Internet radio and get a NEW username and Password Go here: https://home.sirius.com/manageaccount.do
Enter your Sirius User name and Password, would have been provided when you first ever got Sirius radio (letter they send you or if you activated online then you would use that one) If you have already subscribed, you will see the information at the bottom under ‘Sirius Internet Radio’. This will contain your username; you can click on this and change the username and password if you wish.
If you need to subscribe and get a username/pass then click on the link on the left that says Add SIRIUS Internet radio (last button) go through that process and when you come back to this main page it should be listed at the bottom…
Write down your user and pass and close out of SIRIUS, you are done here.
2) Download and install : uSirius
Goto: http://www.millardsoftware.com/downloads/usirius/usirius10rc3_setup.zip
(Unzip and install, this runs on your local PC and connects over the internet to Sirius using your Sirius account).
Double click on the Sirius dog, tagged as:
uS irius 1. 0 RC 3 lnk .
The following window will pop-up (note you will not have any message, in fact it may error saying no user/pass are set up)
Click on Settings and the following window will come up, it will be blank
The only info that’s needed in settings are: Username/Password (Sirius Internet Radio Ones), if you click on the other TAB’s, the port field is defaulted to 19080 automatically, the soundbridge TAB is empty.
Once you have entered User/Pass click OK and return to main console Next Click ‘Start’
And you should see the following happen:
Notes* Login Successful, Server is running at bottom, Listening on,
3) Download and install: ORB2.0
Go Here to download Orb 2.0: http://orb.com/en/download_orb Install Software on the same PC you installed uSirius Signup for ORB Install the local client on the same PC that you installed uSirius. Ensure Orb is running task bar (Green globe), sign-in and navigate the orb web gui to make sure things are ok.
Click on Open Application and then Audio:
Then click on Internet Radio in the hard to see ‘navigate drop down’
When the window loads select ‘Add Custom’
Then this window will load:
In: Name Enter: ‘Howard 100’ (or whatever you want) Then……… quickly……..
4) Go Back to uSirius
Go back to USirius that should be running
Click on URLs to get the URLs, use drop down to get whatever Channel URL you want. Example 100 below
Highlight the ‘mms://’ url and right click copy, then paste into the url back in Orb like so:
When you click submit a message will come up saying ‘checking url’ once its validated then the following UI will appear:
I have added four in my example, the one I added for this purpose is showing in the bottom bar also, ‘Raw dog com’ If you scroll down in the bottom bar you can also add a thumbnail like I did for the other three.
Ok that’s it as far as setup goes, if you got his far then you should be good.
5) Go to Iphone
Open up Safari and type in: https://mycast.orb.com This will take you through the Mobile version of Orb, so you would click on: Audio> Internet Radio > (Then turn phone sideways and you will search, type ‘HOW’)
TIP. if when setting up the channel you rate the added channel as 5* (keep clicking on stars) then you can click on Internet radio Favorites and it will just take you to the channel directly without having to search
You’ll either get your thumbnails you added for Howard 100 or you’ll get the Green Orb standard thumbnail Hit/Select the thumbnail (it will load yet again) Then Hit the Play above it…… Then it will check your internet speed if on edge or it will skip that on WIFI Then you’ll get a QuickTime logo, make sure phone is turned in normal orientation (not movie) and you will see a play button on bottom right of QuickTime window.. Click on that and Loading Movie should be displayed….. And then it should be playing………and you are done!!! You can then loop back through adding channels from 3 above.
Problems: I had problems with Firewall, ORB told me so I disabled to get this all working, you can reconfigure that afterwards. If anyone wants to add anything to this let me know….if you had problems and want to share the resolution also let me know. Thanks
