W hat is different about this safety seminar?
        This sem inar series is designed to offer specialized in-depth, presentations covering the various am usem ent rides
        and devices regulated under the Pennsylvania Am usem ent Ride Safety Act.

Is the Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar Accredited?
        YES! Presentations are approved by the Pennsylvania Departm ent of Agriculture, Ride and Measurem ent Standards
        for all Pennsylvania Affiliated Qualified Am usem ent Ride Inspectors, Pennsylvania General Qualified Am usem ent Ride
        Inspectors and Pennsylvania Lim ited - Affiliated Qualified Am usem ent Ride Inspector. New Applicants and License
        renewals.

Is any testing offered at the Seminar?
        YES! The Pennsylvania Departm ent of Agriculture will offer tests for all License Classes.

Is it really good for my PA Amusement Ride Inspector renewal?
         YES! Satisfactory com pletion of this sem inar will fulfill the continuing education requirem ents set forth by the
         Pennsylvania Departm ent of Agriculture - Ride & Measurem ent Standards for all classes of renewals. Training also

       YOU DO! Presentations are not pre assigned with a “one size fits all” m ind set. You get to chose which of the
       scheduled presentations would m ost benefit you and/or your organization.

       YES! You can attend any of the scheduled presentations offered at the sem inar. Please refer to the enclosed chart
       for m ore inform ation on the training hours required for your particular license.

W hat happens if for instance, I don’t ow n any Go Karts. Can I still take the Go Kart presentations?
       YES! You get to chose which presentations would m ost benefit you and/or your organization.

W hat happens if a presentation is full? W ill I get “bumped” into a presentation I don’t w ant to take?
       NO W AY! There is no preregistration for presentations. The Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey offers plenty of space
       to seat participants in the sem inar m eeting room s.

W ho are the presenters?
       The volunteer presenters are recognized industry professionals, leaders, regulators, owner-operators, suppliers,
       m anufacturers, and experts in various aspects of am usem ent ride and public event safety. The presenters represent
       a wide variety of viewpoints not just the views of any one particular organization or entity.

W hat about inflatable amusement rides?
        In cooperation with the Pennsylvania Equipm ent Rental Association (PERA), and the Responsible Operators of
        Am usem ent Rentals (ROAR) the sem inar series offers a two day Inflatable program at both the Novem ber and
        February Sem inars.

W hat if I am a rental company or FEC w ith inflatables plus other rides covered by the act?
         The inflatable presentation m ay be com bined with other presentations to m eet your individual license requirem ent.
         Rem em ber, you pick the presentations that best m eet your training needs.

W hat about portable rides?
        Presentations are offered covering the various aspects of portable ride inspection, m aintenance and operations.

W hat about haunted attractions?
        W ith the cooperation of Harrisburg Area Com m unity College (HACC) and The Pennsylvania State Fire Academ y, the
        haunted house program continues to offer a variety of class room and hands on program s.

W hat about FEC’s?
       Presentations are offered for Go Karts, Clim bing W alls, Euro Bungy, Haunted Houses, Inflatable Rides, Sim ulators,
       Kiddie Rides, Am usem ent Rides & Mid Sized Coasters.

W hat about w ater parks?
        This year the schedule has been expanded to offer m ore topics unique to the water park industry.

W hat about PDA Public Sw imming Pools Pesticide Applicator - Re-certification Credits and/or Core Credits?
        Som e presentations in the water park series are eligible for PA Departm ent of Agriculture Public Swim m ing Pools
        Pesticide Applicator Re-certification Credits and/or Core Credits. Please refer to the presentation outlines for m ore
        inform ation.

W hat about large amusement parks?
        Additional presentations have been added covering a wide range of topics for both steel and wooden roller coasters.
        A presentation on m otion sim ulators has also been added.

Sounds like a lot of money to attend.
      Still the best tuition bargain of any am usem ent industry safety sem inar. For m em bers of recognized industry trade
      groups the advance registration fee is $169.00 for any tw o day program and $189.00 for any three day program.

W hat if I represent a faith based or charitable youth program?
         The advance registration fee for faith based and charitable youth program s is $169.00 for any tw o day program and
         $189.00 for any three day program.

W hen can I register?
       Advance registration will begin August 1, 2011, the advance registration deadline is October 22, 2011 for the Fall
       program and February 11, 2012 for the Spring Program .

How do I sign up?
      Mail in your advance registration early! Registrations received after the above dates will be charged a late registration
      fee. Registrations m ay be accepted at the door however an additional late registration fee will apply.

Is there a limit to the number of students that can attend?
        Because of the m ultiple presentation form at both the Fall and Spring sem inar can easily accom m odate up to 600
        attendees each.

W hat about food?
        Lunch will be provided daily. Lunch will be prepared under the direction of the Holiday Inn Resort executive chef.
        Com m ents from last years attendees indicate the food was the best they had ever been served at a safety sem inar.

         Ask any of the approxim ately 550 industry professionals that participated in the either the Spring or Fall program last
         year. A prelim inary review of the individual surveys indicate that the presentation content was very well received by
         the attendees.

                    Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar - Holiday Inn Grantville, Pennsylvania
                                 November 2-4, 2011 -and- February 28 - March 1, 2012


Schedule:           It is the policy of the Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar that seminar participants are free to chose the
                    presentations that are the most beneficial for your career path, job description, abilities, and employer benefit. It
                    is the sole responsibility of the participants to ensure they are taking the presentations that are appropriate for their
                    unique situation. Participants do not need to sign up for individual presentations in advance.

Requirements:       The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards, Amusement Ride
                    Division has approved this seminar for new and renewal amusement ride inspector license holders. It is your
                    responsibility to ensure that: you create a schedule of presentations that best suits your needs, meets the
                    departments requirements, all forms are properly filled out, attendance sheets are filled out, presentations are
                    recorded, required paperwork is turned in at the end of the seminar, and the requirements of your particular license
                    is met.

                    The department requires the following training for new applicants and renewal licensees:
                    Qualified Inspectors
                    Affiliated Qualified Inspector               Minimum of 24 hours of presentations. You may attend any of the
                                                                 presentations offered at the seminar.
                    Limited Affiliated Qualified Inspector       Minimum of 16 hours of presentations. You may attend any of the
                                                                 presentations offered at the seminar.
                    General Qualified Inspector                  Minimum of 48 hours of presentations. You may attend any of the
                                                                 presentations offered at the seminar.
                    **Consideration for in house training programs may be granted by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture upon
                    written application to the department. Please contact the Bureau of Ride and Measurement Standards Amusement
                    Ride Division for more information.

Limited Programs:   Limited Affiliated license programs are available for the following equipment types: Inflatables only, Water Slides
                    and Water Activity Equipment Only, Walk Through Attractions (Includes Haunted Attractions) Only, Go Karts &
                    Bumper Boats Only, Extreme Sports (Climbing Walls & Harnessed Trampolines) Only, Retail Fireworks Only*.

Participants:       Registration is open to all amusement industry professionals. Examples include: Pennsylvania amusement ride
                    inspectors, new license applicants, out of state jurisdictional inspectors, private inspectors, maintenance personnel,
                    supervisors, manufacturers, operators, owners, suppliers, event staff, public safety officials, and other amusement
                    industry professionals. Participation by out of state amusement industry professionals and public safety officials
                    is encouraged and welcome.
                    The seminar staff reserves the right to refuse admittance to any person or group, without cause or notice, by
                    refunding the advance registration fee.

Cell Phones:        Please turn off or put on vibrate all cell phones, pagers, PDA’s, watch alarms, lap tops, & text messaging devices
                    during meetings and presentations.

Smoking:            Smoking is not permitted inside the Holiday Inn classrooms, hallways or public areas.

Alcohol:            The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted during presentations.

Special Needs:      Participants who have disabilities as defined by the American Disabilities Act that prevent participation in the
                    standard presentation process should inform the seminar staff when they register for the seminar, no less than thirty
                    (30) days prior to the commencement of the seminar. When registering, please provide a brief written identification
                    of the impairing condition and a request for specific adjustments to the usual presentation process. This information
                    will be used solely to assist with the necessary accommodations, but be kept confidential otherwise.

Registration:       The registration period for the seminar begins at least 60 days prior to the scheduled seminar. Please return your
                    advance registration forms by the due date. Payment must accompany your registration. Registration forms
                    received late or registration the day of the seminar will be charged the appropriate fee. Prepaid registration fees
                    are non-refundable.

Hours:              Presentations start promptly at 8:00am each morning. Presentations end at 6:00pm.

Clothing:           During the seminars, some of the hands on presentations may be held outdoors. .The seminars are held in
                    November and February when the weather is still unpredictable. Participants are encouraged to wear warm
                    comfortable clothing and bring the appropriate coats, jackets, hats and gloves. Temperatures can vary greatly. Rain
                    & snow conditions are possible.

CEU’S:        For those participants that successfully complete their individual training requirement, Continuing Education Credits
              (CEU’s) are available. A CEU certificate is required for continuing education credit by various industry certification
              agencies, employers, and colleges. It is the sole responsibility of the participant to ensure that proper application
              is made and the curriculum is approved by the various agencies. employers, colleges, etc. that require verification
              of continuing education (CEU’s).

Testing:      Testing by outside entities such as The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, PARTS, IAHA,and ROAR, may
              be offered to seminar participants. These programs are offered as a service to seminar participants. Please contact
              the testing entity directly for more information concerning their particular program requirements. Any additional fees
              for testing are due at the time of testing and are to be paid directly to the testing entity.

Admittance    The seminar staff reserves the right to refuse admittance and/or remove from the premises, any person,
              organization, association or group, for any reason, with or without cause. In the event a participant is refused
              admittance or removed from the premises, all fees shall be forfeited, credit for participation will be denied, and a
              formal complaint shall be filed with The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Ride and Measurement
              Standards, Amusement Ride Division.

                         •        Recorded, used or distributed by the Pennsylvania Amusement Ride Safety Seminar.
                                  Presentation(s), including each speaker’s portion, may be made available as an audio or video
                                  recording, course book, transcript, webcast, or other format

                         •        Recorded and used for the convenience of attendees in the future unless the speaker notifies the
                                  seminar program coordinator in writing that they do not want their presentation recorded.
