BISD PDAS Appraisal Waiver
Teachers who meet the Texas Education Code and District policy (DNA Local) regarding PDAS
waivers may be appraised less frequently than annually. The following conditions apply:
The waiver must be agreed upon in writing by both the teacher and the
appraiser, and the waiver is valid only for this school year.
Date of Summative Appraisal:
All elements of PDAS are waived, including:
The Teacher Self-Report
The formal 45-minute observation and Observation Report
The Summative Report
Attach most recent PDAS appraisal, if this is the first waiver.
During the school year in which PDAS is waived, a campus administrator will be expected to conduct
and document informal (i.e. walk-throughs) observations of the teacher no fewer than three times.
Before the end of the school year, a Year-End Conference will be held between the appraiser and the
teacher. At the Year-End Conference, the discussion will include observations made during the informal
classroom visits, other cumulative data collected, and the Individual Development Plan.
WAIVE PDAS – It is understood by all parties that the conditions set forth in the Texas
Education Code and District policy (DNA Local) have been met, and by mutual agreement the
PDAS appraisal the current year will be waived. I understand that this waiver may be
rescinded by my appraiser should he/she determine that my performance needs development.
DECLINES WAIVER – It is understood by all parties that the conditions set forth in the
Texas Education Code and District policy (DNA Local) have been met; however, the teacher
declines to waive the PDAS appraisal for the current year.
