Additional transportation funding is clearly needed and has garnered Monroeville Fourth of July Parade
bi-partisan support in the state capital. Estimates suggest the
recommended increases could cost the average driver about $2.50 per
week. And while nobody relishes the notion of even a nominal increase
in registration fees or another bump at the pump, the alternative – a
continuation in the erosion of our infrastructure and an inability to
provide new capacity – looks much worse by comparison.

Pennsylvania’s first infrastructure priority needs to be getting its house
in order with routine maintenance and safety enhancements. But a very
close second must be to establish a bigger vision like that of completing MACC President Chad Amond, with his son Alex,

must find ways to make the transportation funding pie bigger rather than
continue to squabble over how to divvy up what is already a thin sliver of
the existing pie. I strongly encourage you to join the Monroeville Area
Chamber in asking our elected officials to show the courage and political
strength to do both.

      Getting More from M.O.R.E.

Every Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. a group of MACC members
gather in the Chamber’s conference room for coffee, conversation and
some serious networking time. For those who have never participated,
Monroeville’s Opportunity for Referral Exchange (M.O.R.E.) is open
to all MACC members and their employees as a means of sharing
information about their business, product or services. Perhaps most
importantly, it is an opportunity to build great relationships and for
members to get to know and learn about each other.

Beginning in August, M.O.R.E. will launch a new concept to its
already successful format. On the third Thursday of each month the
group will deviate from the standard networking format and introduce
a round-table discussion on business related and professional
development topics. This month’s topic on August 18 will be:
“How to Grab Someone’s Interest in 60 Seconds or Less”.
The discussion will be led by Ellen Waite
                    from Albert Anthony Real Estate.

To take advantage of this great membership benefit, just show up!
                         No RSVP is required.
Hope to see you Thursday mornings at M.O.R.E.
There is nothing simple about water. Did you know that the total amount of water on earth covers 326 million cubic miles? That less than 1% of
the total amount of available water is clean enough to drink? That an adult human body is made up of roughly 70% water? Ask Kathy Bell from
Tyler Mountain Water & Coffee to tell you about water and you will quickly learn that all water is not the same. She will also proudly tell you
about how she and husband Bill started their company in 1981 as Aqua Fresh Filter. As a water filtration purveyor, they originally sold under
sink filtration systems to residential, commercial and industrial customers.

In 1982 they diversified into the bottled water business and became a distributor and eventually a bottler
of the Tyler Mountain Water brand. “In fact” says Kathy “we were the first company in the Pittsburgh
region to offer spring water.” In 2003 Kathy and Bill decided to add office and restaurant coffee
service into their delivery mix. “After all the best water makes the best coffee taste even better”.
We not only deliver the best quality water, but we consider ourselves to be Water Specialists.”

“When we first started the business I never saw myself being where I am today. To me this
was a temporary position to help out my husband Bill. I never have been big on positions or
titles over the years, but have worn every hat not only to ensure the growth of Tyler,
but because it owns my heart.” There probably is not one job or part of this business that
Kathy hasn’t done over the years. In fact, on one recent very hot summer day, Kathy left her
desk to work side-by-side the employees to make sure the demand for bottled water delivery
schedule could be met. “I might not be delivering 5 gallon bottles of water anymore, but coffee
deliveries are not out my reach.”

Over the last 20 plus years, the teamwork between Kathy and Bill, their family and loyal
employees has led to Tyler Mountain Water becoming a market leader in the bottled water industry.
Today their state of the art production facility consistently meets the highest industry standards and Kathy Bell
is annually awarded excellence is manufacturing status.

Kathy and the entire Tyler Mountain team have been active and supportive members of MACC since 1999. Kathy has been
exceptionally involved with Celebrate Monroeville planning committee over the past five years. “What better way to show off this community.”
According to Kathy, “Don’t just be a member of this Chamber…get involved.” Her advice follows the mission of Tyler Mountain

The Monroeville Area Chamber is pleased to announce that Chad Amond, president, recently graduated from Leadership
Pittsburgh Inc.’s (LPI) flagship program – Leadership Pittsburgh (LP). The program’s highly competitive selection
process brought together a diverse cohort of sixty senior leaders from throughout the Pittsburgh region with significant spheres
of influence in their organizations and communities to form the 27th Class of LP.

Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. (LPI) is the foremost multi-disciplinary leadership identification, enrichment and networking organization
in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Since its creation in 1983 by the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, LPI has evolved as an
expression of promise about the Pittsburgh region into an organization that serves as a national benchmark for community leadership
identification, connection and enhancement. Over 1700 LPI alumni are represented in every major business, academic,
non-profit, medical, legal, social service, government and faith-based organization in the region and the impact of LPI programs can
be felt in many areas of our community.

The nine month long LP curriculum exposed participants to varied points of view about our region, helped them better understand
critical community issues through a public policy lens and engaged them in multi-disciplinary approaches and solutions. The program
exposed participants to our region’s strengths and challenges in areas including energy, government and public policy, regional
economy, inclusion, human services, local government and the arts.

The LP Class XXVII program year culminated in two noteworthy events. Class members traveled to Harrisburg in early May for a Regional Public Policy Trip to discuss
our region’s key challenges with PA House and Senate Leadership and key members of the Corbett Administration, including Secretary of the Budget Charles Zogby.
Additionally, during LP’s recent Graduation on Thursday, June 2 at the University of Pittsburgh, eight self-directed LP Class XXVII teams that were tasked throughout the
program year with developing policy briefs regarding their recommendations for effective, efficient and equitable local government for our region presented their work to
a panel of public policy experts that included members of the leadership team of Pitt’s Institute of Politics Fiscal Policy and Governance Committee - The Honorable Dan
Frankel (D), Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Democratic Caucus Chairman, 23rd Legislative District - Allegheny County (Part); Moe Coleman, Director Emeritus,
Institute of Politics of The University of Pittsburgh and Frederick W. Thieman, President, The Buhl Foundation. The class’ briefs spanned topics including municipal
consolidation, unfunded state mandates and Marcellus Shale taxation/fees.

“My Leadership Pittsburgh experience has been a valuable one that I will take with me throughout the rest of my career,” said Amond. The LP program has a unique knack
for presenting senior leaders with a broader perspective on issues that affect our region in ways that aren’t always apparent. By having participated in the program I really
think I’m a more valuable assest to the Monroeville Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the communities I serve.”

Mr. Amond and his LP Class XXVII classmates reflected an array of backgrounds, professional disciplines, and organizations. In addtion to his own participation,
Leadership Pittsburgh’s Class XXVII attracted senior leaders from organizations such as Bayer Corporation, Giant Eagle, PNC, UPMC Health Plan, Carnegie Mellon
University, West Penn Allegheny Health System, University of Pittsburgh, Pop City, The Hillman Foundation, FedEx Ground, and other top Pittsburgh businesses,
   non-profits, and public institutions.
