News for Members of Red Crown Federal Credit Union, January 2011 Red Crown Loses Long-Time President and Friend Remembering Harry Avey – 1933-2010 Harry started his credit union career in 1962 with the Phillips 66 Credit Union in Bartlesville. In 1969 he moved to Tulsa to take the position of Manager for Red Crown Federal Credit Union. At that time, assets were listed at $2,225,000 with 2,347 members. In 1990, his position was changed to President. Under Avey’s leadership, assets and membership grew to $48,955,000 and 7,782 respectively. Harry retired from Red Crown in June 1993. During his 24 years at Red Crown, Harry served on numerous credit union related committees. He was President for the Magic Empire (now Green Country) Chapter. He was instrumental in forming the Magic Empire Scholarship Fund. He also served as President of the Amoco Credit Union Association for two terms, board member of the Oklahoma Central Corporate Credit Union and was a member of various standing committees of the Oklahoma Credit Union League. Harry is survived by his wife, Billie, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Laura, son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Krista, one grandson, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held January 8, 2011, 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Jenks.
